I'm apparently the only person who doesn't know who Scott Peterson is, so I'll ask a stupid question: just who is this guy, and how is it that everyone hates him so much? What's he done to people to bring on such ire?'....

He killed his pregnant wife and dumped her dead body into a marina several years ago. Why and how he gets to beta test new products from Fractal while serving a life sentence at San Quentin is beyond me. ................................ :D

After hearing Scott Peterson's playing on the Axe-Fx II I wonder why they choose him to test their product?

Scott Peterson's time would be better served beta testing bald remedies.

Ya, it is the ultimate tool, I have to admit it. But I can't ethically support a network of assholes. Now, if Cliff and Tom want to talk shop about the forum's complete and utter bizarre drone bee hive mentality, maybe I'll reconsider. But otherwise, what a bunch of pompous ponces. It's a shame cuz Cliff has been cool with me, as has Tom King. Scott OTOH, well, maybe he needs to get some play, and I don't mean with a guitar. WAY too serious for my tastes... ANYWAY.

I oughta copy and paste some PMs I've received from other members over there - they're actually SCARED to say the things they tell me. They're fearful they'll get lambasted or - god forbid - banned from the forum. I'm sorry but that IS Gestapo mentality... It's ridiculous, ESPECIALLY considering hey - WE'RE THE CUSTOMERS THAT FLOAT YOUR DAMN BOAT!!!!

Ridiculous.

Where's my Hagen :D

Wait, don't bail, I'm hoping you'll go a few rounds with this guy...

I've got an international symposium of psychologists holding with papers pending preprint on the phenomenon of the delusionally solipsistic, tit-deprived interwebz fuckwit. Don't let me down now.

Despite the grief and the conflict around Mark......that dude can mod a Marshall amp. Nuff said.

i love these threads ... it better than late night soap opera reruns on the soap channel ..

I frequent TGP as well as the Fractal forum and I've never had a serious run-in with any of the mods. I tend to read more than post though so this may be why I've not really had any bad experiences. Once I made a comment on a thread about Dumble amps and my post was removed for no apparent reason. I merely said -

"I'm not even remotely interested in a Dumble amp but does the guy even build amps any longer? It seems you only see older amps out there"

And one of the mods removed my post. Other than this instance I've had a reasonably good experience on TGP. I frequent the Fractal forums because the Axe-Fx is so feature laden that I seem to always need some guidance on different aspects of the unit. Bottom line is that it's easy to hide behind a keyboard and act tough. Seems like a lot of that goes on in most forums. Rig Talk and the Dr. Z forum are the only two I can think of that have a very low occurrence of asshole-ness.

I don't get all of the venom toward Scott Peterson......

He's a REALLY :D vocal fan, but I've never seen him get shitty with anyone; there are a couple of guys on the Fractal forum that are straight up obnoxious.

As far as his moderation on TGP, it is what it is; the place is probably a bit too civil for my tastes :D , but it's their house, so I play by their rules, or just don't post.

Scott's always been cool whenever I've dealt with him.

I just pretty much use that forum to search to find info but don't post in threads. It's sad that that community has to be like but I don't base my purchases or gear choices based on an online communities actions. If the gear is cool and it works for what I want then it's cool and I'll use it no matter if it's used by a million assholes.

Wow, have you guys never said anything negative about a product on their own board ??? If not please try it at say EBMM,Suhr,Carvin-hell, try any of them and get back to me about the replies you get back.

I agree with this totally. I will post some of his comments as they are very vocal and sometimes so much so that they give some comedy. However overall he has always been cool with me, answered some questions on a specific piece of gear, etc.... His moderation style fits TGP and he is one of the better moderators at the Fractal Forum as well.

I told the guys on the boogie board once that a dual rec sounded like a can of bees that were in heat and had no mates!

Does that count?

My definition of "venom" is much worse than I've witnessed in this thread.

I've seen him get into name calling a bit but it was more in backhanded way. Honestly I think it has more to do with the over the top comments, hyper defensiveness, and mental gymnastics trying to cover contradictions that turn people off.

I agree with you on "their house their rules".... I just play along.

After hearing Scott Peterson's playing on the Axe-Fx II I wonder why they choose him to test their product?

I would guess a few reasons:

- His one sided loyalty to the product has made him in essence Fractal's #1 Axe-Fx spokesman by proxy. He likes to hide behind the fact that he isn't officially employed by Fractal as a ruse to lead you to believe he's not biased when you read his posts. So what if he isn't a paid employee, he isn't fooling anyone.

- He controls a main conduit of access to an 80,000+ membership forum in which to promote and market Axe-Fx products. Free marketing and access to potential sales. He actively uses the forum to promote the product and censors out some or all of the negative.

My guess is he was allowed to be a beta tester as a form of kickback regardless of his playing skills.

Probably why he was also given mod status on the Fractal forum...

It was Ed Degenaro and Angus aka Flying Angus that got the axefx ball really moving with their re-amp work over at TGP, those two alone in one thread did more serious work than SP ever did and IMO that is fact. Mentoneman's 8+ minute clip vid is more impressive than anything Scott did as well in my eyes.

IF Cliff was to thank one guy for really putting up the clips and stretching the boundries instead of just playing presets through shit ss monitors it is Degenaro period. Been reading these threads now for years and other than cheerleading SP has done nothing to move product to guys that are in the know.

Fact is out there on the internet, nobody that has followed this through-out the years can deny it. If Mentoneman or Ed had that beta test chair we wold be reading things different, they tell no lies.

Jams out in 3.....2......1

Hey! Wait a minute silly boy. You forgot about me...lol

G
...and me!!! I had people congratulating me on my "PeaceMaker toob amp clip" that was really the Axe... :hys:

Scott is just very emotional about his gear, maybe more than some are to their own families. I have never had any equipment bring tears to my eyes. It's the constant clinging and worshipping that brings the comedic aspect to anything, creating a cult-like vibe, brotherhood, family, etc. :loco:
I've had gear make me extremely angry, but no  yet...
