The release of a new amp by the smaller companys peaks at about 150 when they first come out. Then the sales drop very fast and level out. I would guess the Axe-Fx™ II will be a similar number.

I don't get all of the venom toward Scott Peterson......

He's a REALLY vocal fan, but I've never seen him get shitty with anyone; there are a couple of guys on the Fractal forum that are straight up obnoxious.

As far as his moderation on TGP, it is what it is; the place is probably a bit too civil for my tastes , but it's their house, so I play by their rules, or just don't post.

I agree with this totally. I will post some of his comments as they are very vocal and sometimes so much so that they give some comedy. However overall he has always been cool with me, answered some questions on a specific piece of gear, etc.... His moderation style fits TGP and he is one of the better moderators at the Fractal Forum as well.

Thanks V, no not my wife. I had her in a picture with both of us in it as an Avatar at one time. I learned my lesson after a few comments by Barzini and a few PM's asking me if I would trade equipment for sex with her. So I stay strictly with non family avatars after that.

One last thing I realize that so many Axe Zealots complain of those that compare to tube amps, I have seen this in the last few days, they say find tones that are good, why compare to tube amps anyway. Well if this is true or practical then why does the Axe have amp sims named after tube amps, Plexi, Corncob, HAD100, and on and on.......

Just Saying....

You'd prefer they were named "AMP_SIM:057, AMP_SIM:058, ..."? Fair enough if you don't like the "don't compare to tube amps" argument, I find it a bit lame myself, but the naming of the amp sims has little to do with it. Some are modeled after schematics, some just similar in end result, but users obviously want to know roughly what the sim is going to sound like from a convenience standpoint, and using well known amp model names is the easiest way to convey that to everyone.
For thought - just in the case of plexis, there's not a uniform opinion of what an ideal plexi sounds like, i.e. no standard reference to model. Sometimes I wind up closer to what I think brand X amp sounds like with tweaks on brand Y sim than I do on brand X sim.

Fuck Peterson, using his forum as a shill while secretly being a beta tester of the II.

There's no way you can be objective in that type of environment without being severely biased with an agenda. About as useful as reading a commercial...

I don't know him at all, but to his credit- I've seen him ( online) very patiently helping guys with technical advice on live/vs. recording Rigs, tones etc etc and not just Axe Fx stuff.

And he's very patient for all the heat he takes on these Forums............

Tone for one thing. We had it on my friends Marshall 4x12 loaded with old 65 watters and it sounded really.... sterile. I know people throw that word around but that's was exactly what it sounded like. After some time trying to tweak we plugged in his Cameron Jose Marshall and it was a night and day difference.

Ya man, cabs can make a HOOOOGE difference. The 65's in the cab might have been a bit thin for the Einy. I found V30's and even G12K's sounded pretty righteous with the Einy. It was chewy and hi-fi all in one. The 50W version gets pretty creamy, the 100W take some space to open up. Ultimately, if I needed to have one, I'd go with a closed 2x12 cab with V30's and the 50W head. Done.

But hey, preference is personal as we ALL know...

It looks like Fractal Audio has implemented a waiting list for the Axe FX 2 this morning, and there's going to be a couple for $400 off the new $2600 price tag for people on the list. If you want the AFX2, you better get in while you still can, or else you're going to be waiting for months. I guess that's better than hitting F5 every 30 seconds though, lol.
