Is a Fender Tele anything to get excited about ?

The end of the "telecasters aren't heavy" debate.

For the first half of the 70s, when Led Zeppelin ruled the rock world there
were no pictures of Page in the studio for Zep I and no first tour pics yet cause they
hadn't broke. Zep I comes out Jan 1969 and then Zep II in October with WLL and
suddenly there's pictures of Page slinging a Les Paul in studio and on stage all over.
(only in smaller magazines like Circus, Hit Parader, Creem, and maybe a couple
others - Rolling Stone wouldn't cover the band and there was no internet yet )

So for every kid wanting to play Zep I and Zep II you had to have a Les Paul.
Ask 100 guitar freaks growing up in the early 70s what Page played on Zep I
and the answer 99 times would have been 'The Les Paul!"

It took decades before it became well known that Zeppelin's entire first album was
recorded with a telecaster.
The album that sold a million dual humbucker Gibsons, recorded on a stock tele.
