Is anyone here into vintage/discontinued BOSS pedals?

The HM-2 sounds like a super crazy fuzz/distortion that's wayyyyyy over the top. It really only works for extremely niche. Bloodbath is a good example of this niche, and the HM-2 is all over their albums. The EQ on the pedal is crazy sensitive, too.

This sounds kinda like what king fucko of the melvins does with the old bass od

BYOC has some of those cloned.
I have a BYOC slow gear. Its borderline worthless as an effect. It basically a really bad noise gate

I assumed it was basically a voume swell in a box, useful for weird/trippy shit?

EDIT: Just saw that they make a DIY tremolo, this I like the idea of alot, do/will they ship to the UK? It's only £45, and if it's good quallity I'll buy it, I'd rather buy a kit than buy a pedal, just the kinda mood I'm in lately.
BYOC is good stuff. Top quality components. Theyre alot of fun to build. The slow gear pedal has good sound quality but i find it really useless on a pedal board. Yeah its fun for weird trippy shit. And its useless with high gain. But its basically a gate that closes really slow. The tremolo is an EA Tremolo clone. Ive built a tonepad version of the EAT and its a great sounding vintage tremolo.

Fanboi alert!!

Nope.  Couldn't afford an ISP Decimator, MXR EQ or Tubescreamer at the time and I got the TU-2 thrown in when I bought a guitar.

I HATE a lot of Boss pedals, all of their distortion/OD pedals other than the SD-1, whatever the blues one is called and the DS-1.

I'm just pickin on ghotiman's love for looT
So, what gave it away? The Avatar? The pedal list? My grammar? :D .

Resurrecting this thread, I love old Boss stuff.

I have a Pedaltrain Jr and a collection of Boss effects. I swap 'em in and out as I need/want 'em.

That is a cool collection!

I have started getting into old pedals too. I have an RV-2, CE-2, BF-2, CH-1, script logo mxr phase 90, and a block logo mxr phase 100. I had the Dimension C but it didn't work out. My next purchase will be a DM-2.

I actually think there are some good sounds to be coaxed out of the Xtortion! Also, there's one weird setting where you crank the 'punch' knob and it gives this unique cocked wah/harmonic sound just on the 3rd and 4th strings; really unique! There's one regular on the Boss forum who puts the Xtortion among his favorite all-time Boss pedals.

When we were in high school, I went over to Robert Keeley's house and he had a bunch of great BOSS pedals all hooked up. At this time, I think I had some lame distortion pedal from another company, so he let me borrow a few to try. I felt like I had been living in a cave all those years. :) Still cracks me up that he is making pedals and still modifying those old BOSS pedals. :)

My old Boss OC-2 is one of my favorite pedals of all time, but from what I hear, I may just have a good one. I also love some of the old analog delays. My modded DS-1 also rules.

I had a bunch when I was younger... I sold them because Boss wasn't a big deal and it was easy to get more. Most of them I don't miss but I do regret a few of them now... can't just walk into a store and buy a CE-2 anymore.

i have had a few i wish i didnt sell.

i used to use the old power supply master switch as an a/b box between distortions. at the time i was using the metallizer as my rhythm tone and then switching to the super distortion feedbacker for my leads. ohhhhhhh the tone! lol.

i still have a metallizer. i dont know why. i've had 3. the first one i had sounded best to me..but that just may be time sensitive/reminiscing... the 2nd one i bought sounded thin and weak. the one i have now isn't SO bad, but isn't SO great.

for a 15 year old kid though, having a pedal with decent digital distortion (if there were ever such a thing), doubler and shitty chorus was just tits for me!

now i just like guitars and amps.

i had the digital pitchshifter/delay,a nd loved that ...as i had the OC-2 and hated that it didnt track right and the PSD was dead on, even for chords. i had a ce2, but my cousin claimed it and i never got it back. had a compressor sustainer. dd3. dd sampler. a few geq7 pedals. and some other odds n ends i dont remember.

People collect these things like a compulsion. Buying them with no intention of using them, just to add another cute little square specimen to their pedal rainbow. Like beanie babies for guitar players.
