I can only speak for the HR25, but mine works great at low volumes. Easy to control and sounds great. Yes you are not getting that power tube breakup, but it still sounds good. I need to try mine through a power station to see how much really cranking the power section adds.Do you think the SLO 30 is a good bedroom amp? Good crunch at reasonable levels?
When people say an amp doesn't work well at low volumes that can mean more than one thing. Is it hard to control? Can I get the tones at the volume I want? How much of a change is there with move volume? etc.
I think we often overlook that some amps change pretty drastically with more volume and others change less. Same with speakers. While more volume to a point is generally better, its how much better is it?
