Is this an accurate clip of the Bogner XTC 20th?

I owned the 20th Anniv 6L6 version. It is my favorite tube amp I have ever played/owned. Just great!

Here are a couple of recordings I did with it. The only amp I sold I would love to have back someday (although I will own a Henning Cherry Bomb first).

Red Channel: https://soundcloud.com/gibson5413/xtc-d ... ou-love-me

Blue Channel (Plexi setting):

Blue Çhanne; (Boost on):

This is just sounding great ! ( and played very good to )
I have a 20th anniversary 101a with 6l6 and wanted to change it to a el34 version.
Afther listening to this clip I'm thinking to leave it the way it is.

Don't change it! I have a 6L6 20th XTC too, and it's great. The red channel in particular is slightly more modern, slightly heavier. And of course the clean channel is more pristine :) Remember the amp was designed for 6L6 tubes!

I loved the 6L6 version and would easily pick that version again. What an amp! So fun to play.

Hey! I remember hearing that We Die Young clip of yours and thinking, damn this thing is nice.

Great chops man.

Any idea why Bogner makes 2 x versions, and not EL34/6L6 selectable? The HG amp I'm using now gives me the option of using both.

Thanks brother! I love the darker tone and crunch of the Bogner line.

I kinda dig it!Wish i could afford a bogner but alas... I cannot!

This is WAY more characteristic of the 20th XTC. I chose the 6L6 version after trying them side by side. I know others LOVE the EL34 version and it's great as well, but I wanted these Bogner tones!!
Nice job Gibson!! I dig your sounds and that's what I got the XTC for in the first place.

To the OP, grab one and listen. You will tweak things the way YOU tweak and it will sound different...it gives a lot of versatile options for sure!

Awesome! Are you using a pedal on the blue plexi setting?

No boost pedal. Just the built in boost function.

Damn dude, those clips are the best sounding I've heard of this amp. Honestly, most I've heard made me not want the amp. These most definitely made me want one.

I find the red channel in most clips to sound a tad fizzy and "soft" for a lack of a better term. The blue channel on plexi and boost on the other hand though, I dig.

Thanks, sounds good but you took my last doubts away !
I stick to my 6l6 tubes :D

Just did a tone test here with my 100B as in another thread. Way less compression than any other XTC.

My (240 volt) 100B sounds thicker and fatter than yours. (lol!) Your 100B sounds anemic in that recording and I assume you're using humbuckers.

I'd like to also chime in and say that my 2 x 20ths (6L6 & EL34) sound no more compressed than my 100B. They can if I dial
them way up but I can cop my 100B with the two 20th's easily.

The trick is what speakers you use with the 20ths. H Scumbacks in a Bogner 2x12 with a 6L6 20th present a different story than other speakers. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Well I was going for a thin tone here, no problem getting a fat tone at all but it just seems to get lost in a mix, my THIN TONE sounds fantastic with my band. I flipped pickups around with S/C's and a Humbucker. Guitar makes a big difference, this is an Alder with vintage pickups. Oh yeah my dad can beat up your dad!
