So, as I scour the internet I wonder to myself how it is that everyone has become an expert at everything. People no longer seem to have opinions on things and only facts that more often than not are wiki derived or spoon fed low intel trash courtesy of the "experts". Often it's just ridiculous bullshit they'll spew as if information access is on par with the dark ages. Like seriously, what the fuck happened to the world? Any experts want to chime in?

I'll never claim to be an expert at anything, but IMHO true experts are thin-on-the-ground these days.

I reckon it's 'cause peeps are placing ever-more faith in academics, many of whom have little to no real-world experience. IMHO a true expert has a wealth of experience in his or her chosen field/s of endeavour.

Wait... Do you mean to tell me that my opinion that was spoon fed to me by mainstream media that I formed totally on my own by thoroughly researching the topic is not hard fact. I call bullshit. You're nothing more than a lunatic science denier!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I had a conversation similar to this with a couple of colleagues just the other day. I think the internet - and now instantaneous access to endless volumes of data - is to blame. People have completely lost the distinction between information and knowledge. Back when ‘information’ was largely found at the public library and required both time and effort to access it, few people ran around town acting like a genius because down the street was a public library. But now that the information is available on their phones in the time it takes to verbally ask the question using voice recognition - people conflate that data with being part of their own personal knowledge base.
And if the distinction between data and knowledge no longer exists - don’t get me started on the distinction between knowledge and wisdom. Even folks with tons of legit, hard earned ‘knowledge’ must USE that knowledge in their field with all the good, bad and ugly results to follow before that knowledge can become actual ‘wisdom.’ That sure ain’t happening in today’s day and age…

there is a great deal of propaganda, half-truths, facts, lies, spin, truth, etc. out there. Most are uniformed or misinformed because they really don't care about what's going on, won't accept facts that don't align with their world view, etc.

when you have supposedly educated people violating the Constitution, or calling our Bill of Rights a "concern" it doesn't take a genius to see what's happening.

follow the money, if someone is stating a position - who do they work for, what's in it for them, etc.

I'm essentially indifferent, but watching the self-destruction and decline isn't easy though it's often entertaining. I'm getting my toys and getting everything I can think of set and in place for early retirement in 2-3 years. Once I have everything set, I'll go into indifference mode, minimizing my taxes (legally) and minimizing my interactions and support as much as possible...I'm out.

I'm an expert on everything. Mostly because I can't stand waiting on other people. All I do is fix shit. Mostly broken shit from China. Everything I fucking buy requires drilling, dremeling, welding out of the box. Nothing ever works properly. Chinuh.

I'm also an expert on Politics. I learned everything I need to know about politics, courtesy of 80's thrash metal. The best political education one can get.

Strange you would keep buying Chinese made goods if that's your experience.

I'm pretty sure that's not an AR. And it's highly unlikely you paid for it.

I dunno much of anything about weapons, so what is it?
I do know that US tax funded fmf to Israel requires purchase of US military equipment.
