Still saving my pennies for a Barrett MRAD 300PRC. :D
:inlove::inlove:
I ran my RPR out to 1100 yds the other weekend, I ran out of clicks at 1060, even with a 20MOA mount, and had to use the reticle for the rest of it, 551.25 inches of drop (nearly 46 ft) but I finally landed it after 2 attempts. A 308 goes subsonic at around 1185@ 2560 fps..
A 300PRC would have laughed at that shot... I sure wish I would have started with one 12 years ago

Also, I saw some testing on the 277 Fury you were interested in, what an ass kicker that thing is!
But I can't afford the ammo for it, even building it myself. The brass has a SS lower base to accommodate the crazy amount of pressure the round develops, but its one of the flattest shooting rounds ever developed (as of now)
If I remember right, it was at 2.3 inches of drop at 800 yds (!!!) at just over 3000fps

Nice! happy with 7.62 NATO; and that MRAD is expensive. There was a sale that ended 31-May, had them for under $6K, now the prices are back to normal...

Yeah, 1000 yds and in a 308 is hard to beat for training/cost per round and its easy to load, not finicky about jumping the gap. I see a lot of guys chasing the barrel lands with them but I'm finding the magic voodoo is in neck tension ;)

I went down the oddball round rabbit hole in the early 90's with a 6ppc. Nope....standard commercial calibers are fine for me.

I told you about my boys rifle didn't I? Bought him that 6.5 cr and it would not hardly drop a deer. He went back to 30hate and no issues. Really disappointing.

Yeah, its a Swiss army knife in the rifle world, it will do almost anything and do it well..

yes, I only started looking for alternatives since the 277 Fury ammo and rifles never became available. I'll need to look again maybe

I'm interested in the Sig Cross in 277 Fury

edit: yes, still out of stock everywhere they're listed. this is ridiculous, it's been a few / several years

Well, the military has adopted the round for one of its specialized weapons categories, garand thumb did the test I saw, so they must have made some headway as of late, but yeah, still no civilian offerings. Even he had trouble with ammo availability and he's well connected with the military.

watch, as soon as I purchase the MRAD 300PRC, they Sig Cross 277 Fury and ammo will be available lol

Same here, nobody had them in stock and I ended up with a Kel Tech KSG, I didn't expect much given Kel Techs reputation, but its been surprisingly good. Its got an Eotech red dot on it. No issues so far but Ive only got a couple of hundred rounds through it. 14+1 cap with twin feed tubes. Its not close to a Tavor as far as build quality, but being a pump platform its been good so far. The tube selector is a bit notchy, but its cool being able to run cheap loads in one tube for be-heading snakes, and serious more manly loads in the other and choose on the fly.
I can tell you if you drop it in mud you do not want to field strip it outside on a tailgate
I have a gen 2 KSG25 ( dual 12 rd. tubes) with a couple thousand rounds through it. No issues after I put a drop of the dreaded blue loctite on the selector switch screw. That should have been a shoulder screw and socket because you can't tighten it all the way down, but if it backs loose it will cause FTF. Those shotguns are based off the Ithaca 37 design. It's a good shotgun for SHTF because you likely won't need to reload with 25 rounds at your disposal. 3" mags and heavy slugs will beat your shoulder up a bit. I have a Romeo 5 on that one. 2000 plus rounds through it and it hasn't moved so.....

Wow I haven't had that happen, but I don't have a lot of time on it either, I'll address that, thanks
You would think KT would issue a shouldered replacement for that thing...
I am a believer in Loctite, all those years of racing bikes, we used it on a lot of things especially suspension components where you could not over torque it but you dam sure don't want it to come apart.

I got my first Kel-Tec several years ago, the RFB 18", before IWI Tavor 7 was announced. The RFB worked great, even with some cheap ammo, I just needed to adjust the gas and it worked flawlessly. So good that I also got the RFB Hunter (24" barrel); I added a bipod and a nice muzzle break which keeps it even steadier, this is my main long range rifle; until an MRAD 300 PRC or Cross 277 Fury are available at the right time and price.

I've had no issues with my Keltec RFB, and very good price compared to the Tavor 7

I still have my Barrett M99 with 32" Heavy barrel in 50 BMG. Unfortunately, they now classify 50 BMG API rounds as HAZMAT so it gets special government attention. I'm sure I got API rounds a few years ago without the hazmat designation.

As a general rule with firearms I never use LocTite. If you need Loctite the parts or design is inferior. In this case it's the design. That said, I don't know when you got your KSG so that problem may have been already resolved by Kel Tec. They're pretty good about that kind of thing.

If I were you I wouldn't do anything to it unless a problem presents itself. If you have a failure to feed make sure it's not because you aren't racking the slide fully in both directions before looking for other culprits because that's the main one. You may have heard some people say "Rack it like you hate it?" That's stupid. If you have to rack it hard for it to function it's a piece of shit. And that isn't the case. ALL of the action happens in the last 1/2" of travel IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. As long as you go all the way in both directions you can rack it as soft as you please.

The issue with mine presented itself at around 500 rounds. It is an easy fix. Take the screw out of the tube selector switch and clean the screw, the switch and the threads in the receiver with DNA or Brake Clean. Let it dry. Then put a drop of blue LocTite on the threads of the screw. Screw the selector back down snug and then back it off just until it operates freely. Then leave it to dry and set for 24 hours. I have over 1500 rounds since then and haven't had any issues.
