I've heard about addiction issues but have yet to hear somebody speak to them beyond simple hearsay. I also know somebody who is close to Jake who says that those stories are bogus and that he simply became disenchanted with the business and became somewhat of a recluse. I don't know the truth, but the person that I know with seemingly the most credibility says there were no addiction issues.
A lot of his stuff was actually lost through non-payment of a storage locker that went to auction...not pawned off as most seem to believe. Now that Jake is making a move back toward the spotlight, perhaps he'll fill us in on his absence and put the rumors to rest.

I don't know...I don't think he'd fess up to loosing his iconic gear because he couldn't pay a storage fee...makes him look kinda bad, 'ya know ? Whatever the story is...I'm a HUGE fan and glad to see him back AND with Charvel to boot !

Jake's been using an Orange head lately, along with some Marshalls and a EVH head. He was using an EVH on the show with a vintage Marshall cab with greenbacks. But that was all brought in for him. Sounded AWESOME in the room, hopefully that translates to the show recording.

I wasn't saying his guitar was a Charvel...I know it's a Fender that's been "Charvelized". I have a Japanese only market verision of it with a Strat Headstock and the bullet truss rod adjuster. Actually, they didn't do it on Charvels back in the 80s, but they did the bullet truss rod on the Custom Shop limited run of 10 Jake clones that I had one of. Funny thing is they wouldn't do the angled neck and middle singles pick guard or a rosewood fretboard because of the ESP endorsement .
