Atomic playboys!!! Steve Stevens had one of the greatest killer plexi tones recorded IMO!
Also I forgot Blue Murder... John Sykes was unbelievable, what a talent...killer riffs, solos, songwriting and singer all at the same time

This is what I found on a search so hopefully this is correct.
On The Cult’s 1987 album Electric, Billy Duffy primarily used a Harry Kolbe-modified Marshall 100-watt JCM800 2210 head combined with Marshall 4x12 cabinets (usually loaded with Celestion Greenbacks

But he now uses a Friedman Runt.

I am just starting to check out LA Guns...and digging it. Nasty, greasy stuff with lots of attitude.

They definitely capture that. Out of the hair metal bands, you had a few that had a harder edge and nasty, greasy like you said. Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, W.A.S.P., etc.

It is cool you are checking out some of that classic stuff. Not sure how old you are but that music really made me who I am. Not trying to overstate it but it really was special when those songs came out.

Over the past few years, I've seen L.A. Guns, Black and Blue, Trixter, etc. in smaller clubs and people bond listening to the music even now. You'll see folks high fiving each other, talking, etc and are total strangers just bonding with the music.

Another great band from the 80s is Babylon AD. I don't see them talked about much at all but their self-titled debut album is really good

These guys do a great job of playing through several 80s riffs. I'd forgotten about some and even was introduced to some cool ones I'd never heard. It reminded me that I loved XYZ when they came out in the late 80s. They have several other shorts of 80s and 90s music on their channel.

My definitive guitar album of the 80's? Granted just my opinion but this is the one I listened to constantly for the songs, the guitar tones and the especially the playing -

Now, I actually like Georges playing on BFTA better as to me that was his high water mark. Of course Randy's Blizzard and Diary are two of my favorite albums period, even more so that ULAK. Dio's first two with Vivian and then the staggering Whitesnake '87. Others like Ratt's first two hit all the marks, White Lion, TNT etc... was all required listening for me but for whatever reason, even though it's not my favorite all time album, when I think of definitive whole package 80's, it's this album.

I was on the treadmill the other day and put some TNT on! I was listening to As Far as the Eye Can See. Great song!
