Don't you think Hetfield is one of the rock guys with the most amount of presence? to me this guy just projects presence.

Nope.
This is who comes to mind, when I hear
projects presence.
DLR in his Prime, was larger than life
on that stage!!!

You nailed it! But do you all think Dave was just a fucking clown that refused to come out of the Volkswagen????

Opeth. Iron Maiden.

PS - all those suggesting that you can't slag somebody off because they're successful: I assume you never disparage Britney Spears. See the flaw in your "logic"?

Comparing Britney to Hetfield isn't logical at all. Metallica wasn't a pre-fab industry construct like Britney was.

The logical concept is the same - linking success with subjective opinion is idiotic.

So is your subjective opinion that a band that is still selling out wherever they play should give it up because you say so.

And success in a given area most certainly does lend weight to one's opinions in that area.

No one would take a virgin's opinion on sex very seriously would they?

(1) Because one should play music for the love of it, not for ££££.

(2) In music, financial success is utterly irrelevant when considering whether or not a band is past it. Again - music is not about money. SelloutallicA may disagree, but that doesn't make it correct. Oh well, I suppose Lars would like the money for his terribly gauche modern art collection...

Again, those are both your own subjective opinions though. And while I certainly play because I love it, neither of us are in a position to decide whether someone else is, or isn't playing for the love of it. You can't quantify love.

The Rolling Stones are still playing sold out shows too and I applaud them for it. Why should a band stop playing if they want to continue? Metallica certainly doesn't need the money anymore, could it possibly be that they love it too? It's all they've done their entire lives.

I don't know you, you could be a badass, you could be a noob. But if you play music solely because you love it, why waste time thinking others should give it up?

"SelloutallicA" - Seems to me they are making the music THEY want and being paid handsomely for it. That would seem to be the opposite of a sellout...

Art collection was sold a long time ago...

Keep it coming, you are hilarious, dude!

Disagree. James's hick OOOH YEAAAH! vocal style and Kirk's sloppiness do not a good live experience make.

-C

James' OOOH YEAAH has replaced 30 years of unmistakable good years of effort. You think you can sing the same 30 years from now? Doubt it and I don't know any other that can either. Everybody on this site has a hard on for Kirk. He does for the band what he needs to do. I just saw them a couple months and he was spot on, except for the fuck up on the intro to Nothing Else Matters. May have had something to do with it being 95 degrees in Abu Dhabi, but the band laughed it off as did the audience. Didn't make it any less of an awesome live performance.

Which one band or artist makes an awesome live experience for you?
It's been 40 years and Paul Rodgers is singing as good or better than ever.

Paul Rogers is definitely a badass, and love his voice. Pretty different than Hetfield's style though.

Agreed, different style. I just saw Bad Co last weekend and Paul and the band delivered. He's a killer frontman.

The Wiggles. Check 'em out.

Yeah...I've actually paid hundreds for their tickets....more than once.....true story...

Metallica haven't done anything relevant or innovative since 1988, haven't made a good record since 1988, and are just a bloated, tedious, uninteresting money machine.

The avatar pic is the cover of Alcest's "Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde".

Neither has Iron Maiden.

Neither have any of the big shows touring the world to sold out audiences. So what. You're saying they should all hang it up and go into retirement?

Ridiculous. How old are you man?

David Coverdale, for one.

Best one I've heard in a while

I think his recent live DVDs were pretty impressive. Haven't been to a show in person. :dunno:

That's because all the vocal tracks you hear on DVD were recorded in studio
