Japetus Vegemite Review

So i had this with a runny egg, very good! But man the vegemite is strong. I like salty stuff so i enjoyed it, but my wife found it too salty.
She is the jam eater in the family, and said she wanted to try toast with vegemite and jam. Something sweet to contrast the saltiness.
Is that something that people do? Or does that sound crazy?

I hate to say it but it sounds crazy lol - see my avatar... that's vegemite and the amount I put on. If it's that strong or salty you have too much on your toast imo.

So mixing jam and vegemite is not commonly done?
Well no - the only person I've heard that's done it is @japetus - but he doesn't count because he's one of your countrymen haha

To me that would be about as nice as a sardine milkshake...

I think it would upset me like breaking spaghetti in half before you boil it upsets Italians 😛

Try it with sliced cheese on bread or toast if you haven't already.
I did this today, gotta say it was a huge improvement. I put butter and vegemite (light to medium application) on a split and toasted everything bagel, then a thin slice of cheddar cheese. For me, the cheese gives it a more interesting flavor, less "one note" if that makes any sense.
Vegemite to me seems very one dimensional flavor wise, pairing it with other interesting flavors seems to open it up a bit.
Very enjoyable, will def repeat this preparation!
I thought about using American cheese but it just seemed wrong, lol. Flavor of cheddar is a much better match to the vegemite i think.

That's cause American cheese isn't cheese :-) but yes if you have to do it cheddar or what we call "tasty cheese" is a good bet. Just as a side note, American Cheese is very hard to get here. Obviously McDonalds uses it and some burger places but it's not common in our supermarkets at all. Maybe you could get it at a costco... maybe...

I'm in the US so it's everywhere here.
