I tried the bagel and cream cheese.
Everything bagel toasted, then vegemite, then Philly garden vegetable cream cheese.
It was really good! Not quite as good as buttered toast, but almost as good.
Next time i'll butter the bagel, i bet that helps

Thought so.

Would've been delicious.

I am a Vegemite eater. I just eat it as is with some breads or other things. Apparently Australians dont like mixing it with fruit preserves. I feel as though it lends well to it!

Next give Marmite a try. It has to be the authentic NZ marmite sold by Sanitarium.

Marmite is superior IMO.

Marmite is British and has been around for 124 years.

I grew up with it 'cause it's all we had in South Africa apart from Bovril, which was designed to be mixed with hot water and drunk.

Santarium and a shedload of other companies have made it for decades under-license, principally for sale in other countries.

Yep. Sanitarium has had the NZ license since 1908. I like all 3, but the UK Marmite isn't too similar to the NZ one. The NZ version is a fair bit thicker.
My grandad used to drink it in hot water. I never took to that, but a good Marmite and cheese sandwich hits the spot.

Yup. Being brewer's-yeast based (at least that's how I remember it), it's very-similar to Bovril, which obviously is intended to be consumed that way.

It's literally like an unsophisticated stock, which is why it and Vegemite work in soups and stews.
