Joe likes original Jubilee's too. I wonder if he ever tried a Larry?

Yes he has but didn’t buy it. I wonder why.

I miss my Budda SD45, I didn't bond as much with the SD18, but the 45 was a tone monster, but too LOUD, there was no low volume on that amp
I know 😒 the master volume goes from bedroom volume at 10% to full on stadium volume at 10.36%. If they'd have a better mv pot it would've been easier. I have a 45 and 80 and HAD to run my 45 through my Rock Crusher, otherwise it was unbearable.

I almost blew up a nice old Marshall 4x10 playing a Superdrive 80 through it when I worked at Guitar Center like 18 years ago.

That sounded so bad, I was questioning the entire time if it was one of those dubbed "Shreds" videos. In all honesty, I'm still not 100% sure it wasn't.

The 80 must have been an even louder beast

Looooong ago at a time, as he still was a young guy and Gary Moore (RIP) still alive.

Yes, after checking the amp before the sound check, he asked if he could play the evening show with it.
Of course I had agreed.

A year later I met him again at a venue and he spontaneously asked if I had "this amp" with me again.
Of course I had taken it with me - and Joe integrated it into his set-up for the show.

Sorry about the blurry photos, but in the hustle I had forgotten to switch my digi cam from daylight to dark rooms 🤷‍♂️

Concerning Joe's sound in the Instagram video...

... what do you expect from a dimed Super Champ loaded with a single 10 inch speaker open back and obviously worn out electrolytics?

Just take it as funny 😉

Yes, I think I took it seriously, I am sure Joe would know a decent metal tone, but that did sound terrible.
I always say 90% of tone is in the fingers, but there is that other 10%.

Amazing how such a great guitar player can sound like pure sh-t.
I would be embarrassed if I made that vid.

I actually think of going back and deleting some of my 1st demo vids because I don't like them, but even my bad ones sound better than that.
The “noted shredmaster” in the description gave me a chuckle.

No hate on JB, he’s living a gear nerds dream for those with tan pants tastes. He’s got the EJ cascading pentatonics down, which is the best party trick aspect of his playing.

Me and my dad (LOL serious) have seen JB live a few times. I would say I’m not a fan of the music, as it is white dude blues haha. But I can appreciate the guitar focused spectacle, which made the shows fun.

Best sounding rig iteration I’ve seen from him was the Jubilee’s mixed with (2-3?) D style clones. The Jubilee is a great amp IMO, and I think the D clones he was using were circuits actually tweaked or copied of versions that sounded good (thick, more smooth than strident). ‘Real’ dumbles seem to be a bit of a crap shoot as far as sound.
