Stumbled on this. Great playing by both, great tradeoffs. Get's the stench of that Zakk Wyde mess to go away. Never into Hoey but he showed me something here, unlike that foul unwashed pig

Hoey's first solo CD is great. Plays all different types of things on it.

did Zakk steal your girlfriend or something? :LOL I'm not a big Zakk fan or JB but I like Hoey's early solo stuff and instrumentals of covers...

Yep that was some nice playing
Hoey was bringing it. One of my all time faves there. Guy is incredible.

Hoey is a very underrated player. I saw him at a local bar about 9 years ago.

What I like about Gary is he is so damn versatile. Guy plays blues....rock....shreds.

All tastefully I might say.

His "Mr. Grinch" is one of my favorite instrumentals.

In an earlier thread on Joe with Zakk. Wylde was terrible.

Sayce is a monster and would humble just about anybody...he came here when he was starting out quite a few years ago and we talked and jammed a bit...I happened to be there since the blues festival we were holding was all French(I live in Quebec) and he didn't speak the language so I was the interim. He didn't have an amp with him so he borrowed one here...a Traynor YCV 50 combo no less...he sounded amazing through it!!! Just goes to show you... :D

Good for Gary, way to hang in there.

Waiting for JB to bring on someone who can play next level shit , like. Phillip Sayce or Doug Rappaport.

Doug is great, Sayce, though good isn't what I'd call next level. For out there, check this out-

level is just a matter of opinion for each person....I think Joe is a great player and has his style, smooth, great pentatonic playing, can get modal too. Sayce is in a different boat...flat out rip and more aggressive blues based imo. I do think its on another level...maybe not the next what ever that is...but on another level none the less.

Would love to see/hear Doug and Joe jam

There used to be a video on YT with Joe sitting in with Phiip using a Strat plugged straight into a Super. IMHO Joe sounded better than Philip. His phrasing was just better all around. Both are scary good.

Sayce is in a different boat, he can flat out rip? No doubt, but he's playing pentatonic shit same as Joe. Joe can venture further out having absorbed the styles of many, where Sayce is a supercharged SRV at best. You heard one solo, you've heard them all. The exaggerated vibrato, stupid faces, etc. Great player. He just does nothing for me

I've always been a fan of Hoey, Bug Alley is in rotation on my iphone. He doesn't get nearly enough run IMHO.
