John Mayer butchering Van Halen!

I was on Youtube just now and ran across this....couldn't believe my ears. Proof that John Mayer sucks at playing guitar and to add insult to injury, he's butchering a kick ass tune! I had to share this injustice with all of you. What do you all think?!?!

Van Halen is such an incredible lead player that people forget that he is also an incredible rhythm player. Poor timing and rhythm on this one . Does't sound like he practiced, just went out and winged it. At least his tone sucked too

Valid point however....many a sesoned musician knows better than to go up on stage and play something he's got no business playing. I say that because, let's be realistic....Most people don't have chops like EVH including John Mayer (even though Mayer has chops in his own way). And I would still stand my ground if the roles were reversed (EVH butchering a Mayer song for example).

PS. Sorry for posting old news but damn...it was just so bad!

Ehh...he's having fun. The fact that he even cares to strap on a frankie and goof on some VH tells me he probably is a fan like most of us. I can't get too fussed over the fact that he didn't nail it to the satisfaction of the guitar forums...
