This has been posted countless times before and yes he hacks this one up pretty nicely.. really the tone and shit playing doesn't bug me as much as he does. He thinks he is hot shit in this vid and he sucks. Worse than tone and his posturing, is his voice. There's been a crime committed here! Crap cover, crap playing and you can't cover EVH with a Two Rock amp. He needs to stick to his own genre for damn sure.

I have learned that to be a pro-player, you need to nail every possible song out there because you should be able to play it better than any regular dude. Even if it's completely out of your comfort-zone, you better nail that song!!!

JM probably got that guitar from a Fender-rep and said: "hey let's do some EVH tonight and have some fun". And that's what he did, not his best but I will take this kind of stuff over all the pre-programmed crap like Britney, BEP, etc etc any day of the week. And maybe he got 1 person in the audience to discover EVH...

True, a lot of dudes (including myself sometimes) hate on JM. BUT when there's a video circulating around the internet like this, you've gotta expect some sort of backlash. Like someone said earlier, all the musicians participating in the song were horrible (minus the bass player...he sounded ok). And in my eyes, when you get paid big bucks to play your guitar in front of a shitload of people, you're a professional musician and professional musicians should stick to their genre to avoid situations like this.

Come on man, I don't want to swing from Mayer's nuts, I just don't 'get' the intense hatred. And 80s guitar playing doesn't "bother" me but the bias here toward it and against most which isn't it is incredible. It's like nothing else exists!
