Took my kid to see a concert last night and Mark Tremonti’s tone coming out of his PRS signature heads was just absolutely crushing. Make fun of the band all you want, but an absolutely great rock show with some killer guitar.

Anybody ever play those tremonti heads? They seem to not be super popular. I’ve read the dumble type channel is kind of a miss, but it sounded good live. I was close enough to see the channels change on his rig throughout the show. Makes me want to try one, but a new head is the last thing on earth I need.

Flame on…

Creed has good tone. Nickelback has good tone too. Good tone is good tone

I do want to try the MT100. I'm not usually a fan of signature gear, but I love my 5150 even though I could give a fuck less about VH. One of these days I'll get my hands on one.

Funny you say VH. Mammoth was an opening act (WVHs band) and they kicked ass. Wolfgang had his dad’s signature tapping style down pretty well merged with his own style.

I was all revved up to get one, and then I read about an issue they have with some glue they used on the boards going conductive or something. I dunno, maybe that was a different amp, but I know there was definitely an issue with the Tremonti heads that they have since corrected, but a guy on another forum had one go bad and had a real hard time getting it sorted out under warranty. I don't need a problem like that. Makes me nervous to buy one.

Cool, Sounds like you enjoyed it, that is all that matters. I like them and think they are a good group, and Tremonti usually has great tone.

Tremonti has a rack full of Synergy units and power amps behind the MT-100's.
Yeah, I've read that people can see that the MT-100s stay in either the first or second channel, so the high gain tones are coming from the Synergy stuff (SLO?).

Good tone ≠ good songs

I want the 15w head, but I honestly think I'd spend the extra hundred or two to get the Archon 50w instead.

Great tone and a top notch guy as well. Always really polite and responsive to fans. Big amp nerd and loves talking gear.

Never played an MT100 but he convinced me to buy an Archon 100 when they came out and its still in my rig. I was under the impression he was mixing his red channel with synergy slo modules or 5153s? Hes always changing gear so it may have changed. I bet that rig would sound ridiculous with the MT100 mixed with a GZ Hellion.

He has always been a mixing two amps guy. He had the Synergy SLOII 's in his rig before they were released. I have not really heard anything bad about Tremonti as a human being, and I like the interviews that I have seen with him so he has my respect.

Opeth was using the original Synergy SLO and then moved to the SLOII. At least around the release date. Who knows what they are using now.
