Just scored this 1974 Super Lead

If it's already been drilled and modified, fine

But if it's clean please leave it stock?

So the Tremolo circuit is more ‘clean’ than your typical Superlead…with the pedals I have here, it sounds best to me double boosted but each pedals boost level is set below noon. But I haven’t tried that many with it; since this way seems to give me a killer result. Your 74 will have a good deal more gain than my Tremolo, you’ll probably only need one. I am tempted to try a BE OD though. But if it ain’t broke….
 
Do whatever you want its your amp just make sure you "wear a mask" lol. {pun}
 
OK, so I have reached the conclusion that there is absolutely no way to use this head without a attenuator. My ears are toast ! Holy shit this thing is loud !
 
I have the PS-2 as well. Total game changer with non-MV Marshalls. Crank it to 10 and keep your hearing!
 
I had a friend's 50 watt from 1974 here a week ago for a few weeks. It works great with my Power Station 100. The 6550 in the Power Station do not color the sound. It sounds like whatever tubes you have in your amp.
I have owned lots of vintage amps without a master volume. The PS100 is the best I have found. If your using pedals in front or not.

On the 74' I ran the volume in the 9 -1 o'clock range to get what I wanted. Up above that it started to lose too much definition.

They were made to be cranked. That's why they have that ridiculous bright cap on the volume control, because a smaller cap wouldn't really even matter at high volumes. So you need a load box + amp like a Powerstation or a Suhr RL+ power amp or similar. Attenuators are OK but you want load box + amp trust me. Just do it.

Then again, you have another new toy so maybe that one gets the nod. But ime if you mod it you'll regret it and if you sell it you'll regret it. Unless it's for stupid money.
 
OK OK you guys talked me into it I'm going to get a PS100. Have no choice really if I want to use this thing without Mods. but actually I look forward to going down this new path and see where it take me.

Should be fun experimenting !

I've been thinking about one for months..and I just pulled the trigger on one. Should be here next Tuesday.

Congrats, Where did you get it ? I need one bad. But this amp may sit for awhile because this Cameron is FN good I can't stop playing it !

I just ordered one form ZZounds. They have them in stock. Had no clue they even existed. Ordered it after reading this thread, actually. lol
