Wow, very close! I honestly have no idea which is which, although I can tell there is a tiny difference as Shark said. Both sound good. I'm going to guess Amp first, then Kemper...although the first one sounded quieter which makes me think it's the other way around.  No idea. They both sound like amps with slightly different eq or a different speaker.

Nicely done!

Talk about splitting hairs.......sheeeesh!

*Flips coin*

O.k., I'll say first part is Kemper, second is amp.

I think the second part is a tiny bit more detailed, I would guess this is the Kemper with a little tweaking.

I'm going with first Part Kemper, Second part amp and regardless of which is which I think it's tougher to tell which is saying something.

Years ago you would be able to tell almost immeadietly which one was which (IMHO of course)

With the Kemper.. Not so much and if anyone seems to doubt what Im saying then go look at the poll results.

Reveal:

The first part is the amp, the second is the Kemper profile. A few things to note. Since I used 2 mics on the amp, I needed to sum through my daw and then send To Kemper, which means the Kemper profile had an extra conversion step (mic to daw, daw out to Kemper for another conversion). The converts on the Kemper are quite good it seems. Also in the refining process I made an adjustment, a minor one which effected the source just a tad. So the comparisons are not totally scientific and the mentioned above certainly could and would account for any minor differences. I think I actually prefer the final Kemper profile. But to me they are really really close. And the poll is around 50/50. Says a lot about the ability to duplicate this type of sound. I will need to try a lighter gain sound and hear how well it does that because that may be harder. But the Kemper def seems to deliver on its promises. Of course crap in = crap out and vice versa

I actually prefered the Kemper sound hahahaha!
With that said I changed my mind 3 or 4 times before I replied. I had it right the first time but after going back and forth I was like...Who CARES..If I am having this much difficulty picking out the real amp then mission accomplished

Yeah I preferred the Kemper 2 and like I said I made a minor adjustment that I think tightened up it just a tad. So it actually improved it a tad I think, but that's just me. Pretty amazing that it can so closely replicate what it hears

Yeah, it was relatively close, but even on laptop speakers it was easy (for me) to hear the differences....the "refining" is exactly what I always liked about the Axe, too; take a nice baseline, and make it sound like exactly what you want to hear.

Very cool!

Was not that hard. More important for me is the feel, the responsiveness, the mojo.

So please Kemper help us on the 19" version! I want my KPA!

Excellent thread man, thanks for posting this... Seriously cannot tell a sweet goddamn about the differences in the 2 sources. Either one would be suffice for recording and laying tracks.

I see this Kemper bit spreading like wildfire.

I'll say the first one is the amp, second is Kemper. Very, very close though. Given the poll's numbers being almost split between the two choices, and given that the ears on the people voting are learned, I'd say that's pretty impressive for the Kemper. I really want to try one.

Haha. Just curious why you think that? . Well I can assure you one was my cab mics with a fat head 2 with lundhal transformers and a little bit of a Shure sm7 mixed in. Straight from amp to mic to pro tools.

I ended up Eq Ing the profile once on Kemper later to make it slightly less muddy. Gonna try a few other mic positions and mics to get a few options and what sounds best

That is just way cool! I mean, you can barely tell a difference!

What a game changer this device is! Will be seriously looking at getting one of these.
