What do you guys think about the amp as compared to modded marshall's,Because it seems pretty heavy to me.

great sounding amp. the boost and the gate are cool. the tribal stuff is weak. overall great amp.

When I played one it was KILLER!!
Kinda one tone....but it did a helluva tone!

  As far as comparing it to modded heads, it depends on who did the mod. It wont touch a Cameron like Daves, or my Langner, or some others, but it sounded great to me to be a stock head. I would buy one in a second, but I hate that tribal crap. Some would say it looks like Kerry's arms, but others would say it looks like Pamela Andersons

I used to have one, my Cameron Marshall blows it out of the water still. Honestly, any good mod will blow it out of the water, the 2203KK just sounded a little too harsh...

It did have A LOT of gain though, more than my Jose Marshall. the Noise Gate also worked REALLY well

It sounds awesome. Really heavy sounding. I don't like the noise gate at all, and wouldn't bother with the extreme gain mode, but with an OD pedal it can get really heavy and sound great. Good punch and clarity. I don't like it as much as my JCM800 vintage reissue, but it's definitely a cool amp. You can get some fantastic deals on them these days.

I played one once. The top end was fizzy and the mids were too scooped. wasnt a fan

Lets just say my expectations were much higher than the reality. :aww:

Although I prefer my original 2203s to my reissue 2203x, I do prefer my 2203x reissue (with a Keeley SD-1 or TS808 out front) to the KK model. And the 2203x has an effects loop you can chuck an eq and some delay, etc into. The KK has no loop. And it has these cheesy little lay-down trannies...like a JCM900. And no filter cap cans top-side. I noticed some ac line noise and hum from the KK's power section bleeding out of my speaker cab when not playing. Not the case with any of my 1978-1983 2203 heads. I always wonder when the newer amps are lighter weight than the old ones...A good initial indicator that the trannies and power section filtering may not quite be up to par with the old stuff...Still a decent if kinda scratchy/harsh sounding amp.

I will go and check one out sometime and give it a good look over.

Bro in all honesty I'd be amazed if you found any use for it at all considering what you already own. I can't imagine there are to many high gain tone you don't already have access to. If you want the classic Marhsall crunch find a Marshall 1959HW and let it rip.

I saw a video of it, maybe someone here can find it. In the video some guy had it side by side with I think a standard boosted JCM800, and in that video the KK version sucked so bad it was almost unbelievable compared to the standard JCM.

I hear what you guys are saying. I used to boost my 1983 jcm 800's with a original marshall Guv-nor through the high input and it was a real beast. I really have been thinking about getting an older jmp or 800 and sending it to mike fortin to mod it I have always wanted a moded marshall.

That was a great pedal, I loaned mine to someone years ago and never got it back. I cant remember who it was  The current ones sound nothing like the originals

I am glad I still have the original pedal and I will never part with it because they are hard to find.

They're about £800 here. They must be expensive in the USA?
