I've been to several of a buddies shows. One guy uses an 800 thru an 80s Marshall 4x12.. The other guy uses an 800 2x12 combo loaded with greenbacks. The combo sounds so ridiculously good. I usually hate combos, so it fucked my opinions up. I've got my eyes peeled for a cheap one.
I typically use a JMP 2204 into Marshall 4x12s but probably my favorite amp ever is a JMP 2104 combo with blackback G12Ms. Is sounds huge and snarling.

If you were near by I'd trade ya for my '83 which has already been violated.

I think getting a kit or clone to mod is a good idea also.

normally, I would say mod it. Seeing how you love it already though, I would leave it alone. I've seen too many times when adding something as simple as an fx loop, changes the character of the amp, for better or worse.

Makes sense...thought about exactly that as I have a PS2. Was actually going sell to help fund another gear rabbit hole I am standing on the edge of. About to expand my rack and add a Syn2 maybe a 2/90/2 or a 2/50/2.
I sold off my PS2 a few years back.
Ended up buying another one.

Don’t do it man. But a reissue and mod that. Already has an effects loop. Or just buy a Ground Zero if you like his stuff.

I have a JMP 2203. I’m going to get a hot mod to put in for fun every now and then. But no way I’m modding mine.

Or look for an already modded one and then send it to get tweaks to your liking. Don’t butcher another classic. They’ll never be made again.

Yeah I’m always anti combo, unless it’s a Vox or something. I remember seeing Neil Giraldo of Pat Benatar has always used the 2104 combos. Not that I’m after his tone specifically. But suprised me to see the combos. Just need the right speakers probably.

Maybe?
Its been just about 15 months...

Since being on Rig Talk though, I am leaning of others who do cool mods.
Almost to the point of asking for it back and finding someone else.
Oh. I didn’t realise it was still there. Damn. I can’t even imagine someone having my amp for that long. Has he actually communicated?

Back in June of '24 he told me to be patient.
He received it in the shop February 24, 2024.

Keep it as stock. Use your PS2 to add a loop and boost out front for more gain.

If you want a modded JCM800 get an amp kit from Mojotone or Ceriatone and go to town.

I don’t want to ruin any dreams or anything, but his tone doesn’t do enough for me to warrant that kind of wait.
Cant say i disagree.
I have my main amp I use, so I guess that has helped.
Like I said though, I'm getting ready just to request it back.
Been on my mind quite a bit lately.

And with the Jose amp he himself is busy with...

To be the devil on your shoulder. There is another thread saying the MOAB is the business. 😂

Not sure I know what that is?

Ground Zero mod. I’ve never played it myself. These guys seem to be in love with it.

Effect loop is a must with with JCM800 when You play in a band. It should be done without any drilling. There are still a plenty of them on market so no problem and more likely will be always here because those hoarders gona die and younger one fuck those big and heavy amps 😀
Better has modded amp that You play than unmolested one which sit in basement.
