So Winger's bad 'cause you don't approve of the lyrics in a song?

It's a story about infatuation (not a sexual relationship) and the internal conflict brought about by it. Kip was inspired by The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There", which of course contained the phrase, "Well she was just seventeen / If you know what I mean / And the way she looked / Was way beyond compare".

All-told, IMHO the story is one most men could easily relate to. Apparently Kip didn't even know at the time that 17 was considered underage in some jurisdictions. OTTMH I know that in France it isn't.

That aside, Winger put out plenty of absolute cock-rock classics IMHO and deserves to be considered a Hall-of-Famer.
Infatuation?

She's only seventeen (seventeen)
Girl, she gives me love like I've never seen
She's only seventeen (seventeen)
Daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me (seventeen)

Infatuation my balls…Sounds to me like the Kipster closed the deal.
And it’s most definitely not a story that I can relate to, because I wasn’t banging 17 year olds when I was 27.
My daughter is 17…If some 27 year old dude was sniffing around her, let’s just say it wouldn’t end well for him.

Hang on Ray... what's wrong with Winger?
Need more be said?

It's a song. Written to mainly appeal to 17 year olds. She's only 27 would be stupid.

Winger does suck but not because of that.

I kind of agree about the daughter though. Except I took a different path. One thing I never had to worry about was her boyfriends. I was more worried about what she would do to them. Still, I'd kill a mother fucker with only slight provocation over her so I get your point.

I don't get any of the angst over song lyrics. When my kid was young, like 9 or 10, I was taking her to Primus, RHCP, STP, Marilyn Manson, all kinds of shit. The only time she was allowed to cuss was if she was singing a song. Which made for some "Creative" rule skirting on her part. lol Anyway, music is fair game. Fuck, if you try to apply your own personal morals or ideology to the music you listen to you're missing out on a lot of shit. I'm a bass player and one of my favorites is Claypool, but I'm pretty sure if I knew him in real life I'd hate his fucking guts. Same with Flea and all of RATM.

To bring this back on topic though, not everything Bob Ritchie did sucked.

So much for 'freedom of expression' One man's meal is another man's feces.

You can live a life outraged at everything or you learn to live with 'your' filter to block out said problems that 'you' believe are existing.

Channel your current virtue signal energy into something that manifests into an actual positive in your life.

If Winger pisses you off that much, you'll be dead of a heart attack soon enough about everything else that's going on.

Well that's entirely different than what you just said a minute ago dude. So we're moving on from your original indefensible statement ?

I don't give a shit if he did or didn't lip sync. Or about anyone's opinion about any "Celebrity".

Though it does come in handy for figuring out who's basing their opinions of art on the artist's politics.
If you don't like an artist for his politics, you HAVE to find a fault. No matter how menial.

I listen to all sorts of genres of music, including death and black metal, so I honestly don’t get triggered over lyrical content. I assure you I’ve been thoroughly desensitized in that aspect. Lol
Monkey Man asked what’s wrong with Winger, I half jokingly threw out a tune he wrote about banging jailbait, and he comes back with this “infatuation (not a sexual relationship)” BS, when the lyrics clearly state that he hit it.
Then this jurisdictional BS about Kip not knowing it was illegal. Legal or not, he hit it and it’s creepy af. Lol
Kip said what he said, let’s not pretend otherwise.
At least we can agree that Winger sucks. 😂

How about when one man’s meal is jailbait?

Again, it’s a song. It’s like a movie or any other piece of art. It’s not reality. Not provably anyway. I wonder how old Kip was when he wrote it. My mom was 16 when my 19 year old dad married her. There’s a difference between that and a 30 year old man. Not to mention the fact that when I was growing up, about the same time as Kip probably, 17 was adult age for a female. Men were 18. At least in my state.

Ok, guy writes a song about banging a 17 year old that gets released to the universe on a major label.
I’m thinking he may have followed through with it, or he’s the kind of guy that would, what do you think?
And do you think Tiny Tim really "tiptoed through the tulips"?

AGAIN, IT WAS HIS DENIAL OF IT
READING COMPREHENSION, TRY IT
Did anyone even “Accuse” Bad Bunny of it ? Or Green Day? They both did it. And I didn’t see anywhere a single person even brought it up.

It’s also very likely that not all of the kid rock thing was lip synced. I’ve heard people say some of the background shit was pre programmed but a lot of it seemed live. I didn’t watch it so I don’t know ( or care), but if that’s the case I could see him getting defensive about it. And some of your buddies early in this thread were certainly making a big deal about it. So I can believe you weren’t attacking it over politics if that’s what you claim, but you’d have to be retarded to believe that’s the case with the rest of the dumbfucks bitching about it.

I get what you’re saying. My dad and his first wife were 17 and 16 when they had a kid on the way and got married.
Kip was 27 at the time.
When I was 27, I can’t think of any scenario where me or any of my friends banging a 17 year old wouldn’t be fucked up and severely frowned upon at the very least.
Whether it’s art or not, it’s not a good look…
