King Charles III gave a wonderful speech at the state dinner

Might depend on what you view as good pay. Here, other than administrative officials and principal/vice principal etc. they don’t make shit. Same is true for cops. They both seem to have nice retirement packages though.
A teacher here can make about $110k after several years of experience. There's a pay grid with experience and different tiers based on their education level.
It's all relative, but that's pretty good pay around here; pretty similar to what an accountant or mid level engineer would get. Plus they get summers off, and many work and earn more then too. Pretty good gig but can be stressful.

I never heard a brit crack a joke or smile in my life.
KG hit it out of the park

It was a brilliant speech. I'm glad the King made this historic visit. We must never forget the European roots of this nation as founded. 🫅

I hope William will be a much better King and has the fortitude to guide and inspire the people to reclaim England and the UK as a whole. And don't forget Canada.

Think what you want, I know plenty of teachers and they are financially quite comfortable here. The famous middle class.

The question is where is "here" but I know the answer now and it does make the most sense i.e California.`My daughter is relatively new to teaching in FL and works a lot and pulled around 70k last year.
I mean, Cali is hella nice, but, nah, brah.

Congrats to your daughter by the way!

Teachers work 24/7.

24 hours per week, 7 months per year. Nice gig.
She is working a couple gigs to keep the $ flowing and that is 12 months per year. Elementary kids, high needs brats from the inner city. Not sure if that is better or worse than spoiled rich brats from elsewhere in the city. Not so nice a gig which is why I warned her to find a different line of work.

She went through a teaching degree and now regrets it? I hope she finds something she likes.
Well it's stressful to be a new teacher. I think for a minute she was but she's starting to settle into a routine. She's interviewing for a different teaching gig up the coast that might be a little more normal. She's a good kid I just want good things for her.
