c'mon man, they're a Vegas act now, like Wayne Newton. Makes sense why Gene cancelled his new band's tour.

I said for years they should do a residence in Vegas, the Kiss Experience. They could hire younger people actors/musicians to mimic them to the music with the stage show, in makeup of course...and just print money for years. They could even incorporate their avatars into the act, in 3D, etc.

Okay, I believe you on that one, but you have to admit the timing was too tempting

Also good news guys, if you write quality music, you will make lots of money and gain lots of popularity

That's why modern popular music is of such high quality! :hys:

I might actually pay to see this if it’s on pay per view, if they promise no backing tracks for Paul Stanley. It’ll be the greatest stand up comedy set in awhile.

How many farewell tours is this now? It's been going on for like 30 years

Part of the reason that rock and metal music sucks so bad now is that the legends never stop milking the tit, and never get out of the way so new bands rise to the top
It’s not on them to get out of the way. It’s on the young, new bands, who aren’t good enough to knock them off. Just like KISS did in the 70’s when eventually, no established bands wanted them to open for them and when VH was opening for Sabbath. Old timers can milk it all they want, it’s up to the young Bulls to put them out to pasture.

That might be true if the record industry still worked like it did in the 70s, but there's limited bandwidth for music - both in promotional terms, and the end user. Every 439th Kiss farewell tour that costs 500$ is 10 normal theatre shows they didn't go to, or 100 local shows they didn't go to.

Pretending that it's just "the young guys need to write good music" is completely ignoring half of the equation.

It's like saying "free trade works" without understanding the effects of globalization.

Or the inverse like not buying into the cash grab that another KISS farewell tour is and just seeing 10 theatre shows. At this point seeing KISS is no different than seeing a Las Vegas novelty show at a casino. It’s all for a gimmick that nobody is taking serious. Kids today don’t want to watch a bunch of geriatrics, they want gangsta rap.
