KISS Announce 2025 Show, First Since End of Farewell Tour

I'm more about the cover bands these days anyway/.. guys in their late 40's who are pros and can still do it. I think I rolled my eyes at the last " FINAL farewell tour announcements". Gene probably isn't getting the pull he wants going out there playing plane clothes. IF they want to have any sort of ticket sales, you invite kulick AND Ace AND Peter and Eric and pay them all well.

That might be true if the record industry still worked like it did in the 70s, but there's limited bandwidth for music - both in promotional terms, and the end user. Every 439th Kiss farewell tour that costs 500$ is 10 normal theatre shows they didn't go to, or 100 local shows they didn't go to.

Pretending that it's just "the young guys need to write good music" is completely ignoring half of the equation.

It's like saying "free trade works" without understanding the effects of globalization.
Kiss isn’t blocking anyone coming up because there isn’t anybody coming that remotely does what Kiss does. If people didn’t see the value in what is charged to see KISS, in their 70’s, doing KISS from the 70’s, they wouldn’t go. I don’t, so I don’t (but ‘96 was fucking epic).
Kiss spent 30 years re-doing the 70’s. I guess we can allow them to move on to the 80’s 😂.
But whether it’s Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Journey or Kiss. Who are they actually blocking? I think it’s really as simple as people are paying to see and hear what they want to see and hear.
If a newer band came up that had strong hooks, the music ability and X factor that those greats had they would probably draw from that well. I just don’t seem to come across newer bands that even remotely do.
Music is emotional. It’s hard to put any specific analysis on what emotionally satisfies people enough to prioritize what separates them from their money.

If Kiss (as well as foreigner, fleetwood mac, journey, etc) was still writing bangers you'd have a point.

They don't, so it doesn't hold water. No one hears the small number of rad records that are coming out because the "x factor" youre talking about is really "lots of investment so people hear about it and hear the good music."

So bangers are required??? Didn’t I say that???

Whether they write new songs or not doesn’t matter. All that matters is, for some reason, some people are more willing to pay once to hear a 76? year old Gene Simmons, sing Christine Sixteen than whatever bangers are being laid out by a series of 20/30 somethings at the local Orpheum theater all the same year. They decided that.

The "for some reason" you're looking for is "people don't hear the handful of good bands/musicians because they have no investment behind them"

I think it’s more the fragmented, short attention span lives mixed with an over abundance of things to consume. People hear about these bands but they’re forgotten almost as quick as they saw their vid or clip on YouTube / Tik Tok. Again I can’t speak for 20 somethings and how they find and follow a band. I can only attest to I am hearing all kinds of new bands and bands that are 3 or more records in but I’m not hearing anything that makes me go wow, or compels me to want to go see it.
The amount of times I see a preview for a new show on streaming that looks promising and then I completely forget about it before it starts is often.
I do remember though, a little band called Metallica that had just started touring Arena’s as a headliner with no support with radio or MTV, certainly no Tik Tok…but I’m sure it’s not because they were writing great songs and re-defining a genre.

That short attention span is certainly a piece of it, but the fact of the matter is that if metallica wasn't still touring, people would have to invest their time and money into some other artist that actually has created music that doesn't eat dogshit for the last 40 years :dunno:

why write new music when you have a large catalog of songs from a few decades? Paul said if they write new music it, no matter what it is, it will not surpass what they've already done because the old songs have time, place, nostalgia and memories for the listeners that new songs will never achieve.

another example are Metallica fans that want another MOP; plenty of examples where successful bands new music's greatest competition is the music they made when they were younger...for many of the same reasons that Paul stated.

I have been a fairly big KISS fan my entire life. He can fuck right off.

"This whole idea, this delusional, evil idea that you get to do whatever you want and the rest of the world be damned is really terrible," he continued. "You've gotta identify those people and bring 'em out into the open, so you know who they are. Know who your friends are by how much they care about you. That includes COVID. If you're willing to walk among us unvaccinated, you are an enemy."

You're just jealous of Gene's insane vaccine infused bass solos.

wow, crazy how tons of bands continue writing good music their entire career then right? I wonder why Metallica and Kiss suck dog dick at it?

Enjoy your cancer and myocarditis Gene.

I thought he’d be immune from 50 years of swallowing a little lighter fluid every night on tour.

The only way the ridiculousness will stop is if people quit buying the tickets. As long as there are dummies willing to spend money on the stupidness, it will continue

that's what you got out of what I posted? it's not about continuing to write good music, it's about should you and why. If you don't need to, or want to, why do it?

5 decades of original music, and people pay to hear you perform it; writing new music or not is a choice. If I had 5 decades of music that people will pay to hear / see it performed, I'd be asking myself why bother with writing new music, at least for this band with 5 decade catalog.

Did they run out of money already???????? I mean, you can't keep telling people you are hanging it up to pay big bucks for tickets and then come back again and again expecting the same response.:dunno:

Yeah, why don't they want to do a show and have them come up for a song? Is that so bad? It's it going to cause WWIi? Wtf?
