I am using an og zuul right now, and it is really kicking ass for me with my current setup. I cant complain, but that is no reason not to look for the next best thing, lol. I am trying to get away from using a splitter. I have heard the cockblocker is best, but i cant find one. Kma and ts sentry get great reviews. And the zuul + is out there of course. Anybody tried all these?

It’s been too long ago now to remember the details, but I didn’t like the KMA Pylon at all. It was kinda the last straw making me unsubscribe to Fluff haha. Haven’t tried a Zuul+, but even the regular Zuul I had I think I’d prefer to the Pylon. I remember the Zuul being solid

None of these gate pedals are perfect, but to me the best (and what I’ve kept) have been the Highwind Phalanx & Deadweald Golem. Both sadly not made anymore currently. The cockblocker wasn’t bad either, but couldn’t justify keeping it after having those 2. And I like my Wizard Gate just turned off for the nice color and clarity it has, seriously lol

Ok. Thanks for the kma review. Wish you knew more about its offensive nature, but it is enough to turn me away. I wonder why fluff decided to become a schill. It is unfortunate.

A battery in a ns2 burnt in an hr is a huge part of my rhythm tone . I’ve tested it lots . At full power or plugged in it tolls highs and is a tad extra .this is my hermansin with the battery burnt in . The highs come back and very cool imo

If you had asked me a year ago when I still had it I could’ve told you haha, but I just don’t remember well anymore why I didn’t like most not great pieces of gear haha. Probably to make money I’d guess. I mean look at almost any gear channel on YouTube with like 50k subscribers or more (Fluff has 100 of thousands). None of them have any useful info for me when it comes to good gear honestly. The vids that actually helped me are making little to nothing from them sadly. I don’t dislike those guys or anything for making those vids, but I just don’t bother watching them anymore. It’s just a waste of my time at this point

How do you guys feel about the REVV G8? I have 2 friends that have one and say it’s way better than anything else. I haven’t tried one yet.
Didn’t think it was that good either honestly. I made a post saying why when I had it. Will have to find it. The Deadweald Golem smoked it from what I recall. I wouldn’t say I love any of these gates really, but the golem and phalanx have worked best for me so far

EDIT: found it. Here’s what I said lol:
So the G8 came in last week and I returned it. It was better than some other gates I’ve had, but honestly felt the Phalanx & Golem blew it away. The G8 had to me undesirable color/tone suck still, something a bit artificial sounding about the color it added. As a gate itself it was still unnatural in feel and decay on leadwork and couldn’t do the real fast gating like the Golem for that fast stop/start stuff I sometimes want in modern metal. The Phalanx felt light years more natural and preserved much more of the amp’s tone and details. Wasn’t impressed

Leave Fluff alone! Topo-Chico sent him water for free but all thoughts and opinions were his own!

Wait a minute… does he still pimp those out in every video?

At this point I'd trust his water reviews (or anything non-gear related) more than his gear reviews LOL

I should check the Joyo gate out. They've made actually some good stuff and also probably untouchable for the prices they are

Is the isp g-string2 out of favor now? I remember everyone saying it was the best a few years back.

I heard that the isp ones use downward compression/ expander vs a gate. Kinda the same thing but it could sound more natural. I would like to see an update from them. I have the decimator 2 and it’s okay for what it is

IMHO, KMA Pylon is atrocious. It's the only pedal in 35 years of uninterrupted constant gear buying I sent back immediately (brought it back to the store in fact because it was a brick and mortar store) after trying because it was so bad. The pedal itself added noise in front of amps. The noise gate was terrible, like a shittier version of the age old Rocktron gate. Killed the tone completely too. Flimsy build . All in all, horrible.

I tried a lot of noise gate pedals. I really like the Guptech Guul/Sun. I also like the AMT NG-1 Incinerator. Both work great and don't kill tone, but they kill noise for sure.

I watched a vid with Ben Eller and Fluff at Sweatwater shooting out all kinds of noise gates. I bought the TC Sentry. Works for me. I do not like the NS2 because it was a huge tone suck no matter how I set it up. Sold an old ISP G-String because while it was much better than the NS2 for me, it still had some odd tone suck thing going on that I could not unhear once I knew it was there. Could have been completely in my head though.
