Idk what version this is but these guys have a few in stock, just ordered one.

Pretty nice always wondered what one of these was like. Good review.

How does it compare to something like an MXR Noise Clamp or their Noise Gate?

Any update on this? Was curious of you got in yet and your thoughts. In the market and the X and the Zuul are on the top of the list.
Best noise gate I've ever tried. More transparent than zuul+ and g8. If you prefer set the gate tight, zuul will be better choice. I don't set the gate tight. Coz, I don't like tone sucking. So, x g string is best gate for me.

I'm glad @OldGtrGuy bumped this up because I am in the market for something better too. Had the MXR Smartgate and didn't like it. I now have a NS-2 in x pattern now and it is OK. Not terrible, just need something better. If I get the Gstring X and keep the NS-2 then would it be worth using both. So use the Gstring X at the front of chain and loop and maybe put the NS-2 at end of the input pedals before amp?

It does reduce some hums and fizz ...not exactly sure how, as I have not looked into the circuit. Sure it is some type of filtering.

It is analog and there is no lag.

But take what I say with a grain of salt. Someone will probably say I'm wrong. ??‍♂️

Why are you talking to yourself? Oh that's right. You were simonfrewler the alt troll.

I definitely would not lol. Thats like $380 and 2 pedals for noise.

The entire point of the X and NS2 is to run 4cm and do it all in one pedal.

I believe Smash does that and the benefit is to be able to control the threshold for the front and the gate separately which is pretty cool.

But in my opinion, at that point I would just get the ISP Hum Extractor.

Never owned the X Decimator but had most previous versions from ISP. The Hum Extractor is light years ahead of any other noise gate I tried but it requires its own dedicated power supply.

I even emailed ISP if the Hum Extractor and X had the same technologies before I bought it but never got a response. I think they're very similar but the Hum Extractor consumes way more power and performs better.

You can rearrange the order of the gates and you can go into Hum Extractor mode where it removes 90% of 50/60hz hum. Nothing else like that on the market that I'm aware of.

Yes. That will be monstrous. If the ns2 has the four cable i would run into decimator then ns2 (sensing) then do the ns2 at end of run and gstring in loop like you said. The only thing is, with the gstring x, i had to put an isolation transformer right before my amp at the end of my pedal run to keep out a ground loop. Some others have had no problem there.

I will link the transformer

This is getting expensive

I'm just a basement Madison Square Garden Hack Wannabe. I guess I could get the X, mess around a bit and then sell off one or the other. I will look up the ISP Hum Extractor too.

Thats even more expensive.

Im not sure how they all work but if you're using 2 pedals you probably wont need the G String version of the X. Just the regular decimator X.

There is also the new NS1X for consideration with the MDP stuff. Those don't sound bad either and are pretty damn good.

Just got the X in, definitely a great gate and I will happily enjoy it im sure. Still need to try it loud at rehearsal but im giving it a 8/10.

No gate is perfect.

While I have not played with it enough, given my 2 minute test run the Endless Blockade is ever so slightly better.

I think the extra controls is where it's at. There may be a very fine touch setting on the X I haven't found but the EB is just easier to dial in with zero cutoff delay and still keep the sustain where as the X has a very slight cutoff delay.

Definitely managable and I need to play with more and really try to fine tune but that's my first impression.

That came fast. That is great. I appreciate the comparison

The way i set mine up was to roll back the guitar volume and turn the amp up to your normal area (around 11-noon for me) and then turn the gate all the way down, then go up until you cant hear the hiss). Then roll up your guitar and see what it does.

That got me 90% of the way.
