1st off I gotta say, that amp show is one of the funnest things for me to do in life (yeah, it's sad, I know   ). There were a lot of cool amps - here's my personal hi-lites...

Metro - I had the most fun here. George hooked up the GE10 into the 100 Superlead (I think that was the one?) with the uspide down smiley - that was my favorite tone. Then he hooked up a flanger (had to play Unchained :D ), then he hooked up an Echoplex and fed it into a Superbass - man it was insane how good that all sounded.

Blackstar - they got a little 5 watt amp into 2 single 10" cabs that sounds great and looks really cool, very toneful and will make a nice room decoration.

Egnater - I got to play the Rebel, man that is another must have amp - 6v6 and el84 blendable knob is way cool - can't wait til that starts hitting the streets!

Red Iron - they got some cool amps, 1 sounded like it was gonna explode - another had a killer smooth mid range that sounded great - especially boosted!

Star - they got some little 5 watt combo that also sounds killer! Super Mega hi-gain, but it is totally noiseless which was really cool - a definite shredder amp (if you want it to be  )

There were lots of other cool amps I'm sure I forgot, there really weren't any bad sounding amps - these things are way too much fun!

The Metro amps really kicked ass. The JTM45/100 was just awesome nice chimey, bell-like, definately no harsh top end.

george knows how to build a sweet amp !

I did. I hung out in there for an hour or so. The Alchenist sounded good. Not my thing, but nice.

Yeah, it sounded better than what I expected (based on the video they had out a while ago). Had a good amount of gain - it's a solid sounding head.

I heard it too, sounded alright. I only went to say hi to a friend of a friend, not really looking for any gear at the moment. May wander around again today as the hotel is right near where I'm practicing with a new band I'm working with.

My favourite story so far is the gearpage posting by Pete thorn ..

About people having to run from the metero room from Zakk Wylde who plays wide open .plexi on 10 with achorus.

the pros were concerned about thier tinnitus ..lol ..

You can just hear the conversation .."Oh no .Oh shit there's Zakk .
Damn he coming this way ..I think hes drunk ..Oh please don't let him play ..
HE"S GOT A GUITAR AND CHORUS ...Run ,Run

Damn, he's got the level on the GE10 cranked. I remember when you could buy the GE10 at any old guitar store... now people are sucking them up because the figured out VH uses them. Good think I already have 2 of them.

BTW, was the amp noisy as hell with the GE10 and echoplex on?

George had it wide open while I was playing too (GE10 engaged), I didn't notice it being extremely noisy - especially compared to the volume coming out of the speaker. Man, what a tone - those amps sound awesome!

I was totally disappointed in the LA Amp Show. I didn't mind paying the $20 bucks to get in (paid $40 for my wife and I) as I read on the website the high cost was to discourage the not so serious buyers and I can appreciate that. The set up wasn't bad as you went from room to room checking out different products.

With all that said the downfall was the people, the girls at the door were nice enough but as we started going from room to room, we would walk in only to be looked over to see if we were somebody, then turn their backs to us totally ignoring us. Was this show for the public? It didn't seem like it, when you walk in a room where someone is showing their merchandise you would think you would at least get a "hi, how ya doing, welcome, do you have any questions". We stayed in a few of the rooms for up to 10 minutes no one could bother with us with the exception of Voodoo Amps. In the Voodoo Amps room we were immediately greeted and told about the products they had on display, very nice. All the other rooms had one guy playing guitar, basically performing for all to listen to how great he was, if I wanted that I would have gone to Guitar Center and listed to the guy that comes in and shreds for a half hour then leaves with no intention of buying anything. It would have been nice to at least been acknowledged by somebody who might think that I was interested in buying. I could have easily bought a $3000.00 amp but no one was interested they were more interested in themselves; it seemed like you needed to be in their click or be somebody to get talked to. I've been playing guitar for more than 40 years and have met some of the best, these guys seem to be just a bunch of tight asses only interested in themselves. This has to go down as one of the worst shows I have ever been to.

I'm glad I paid the money so I know not to go to a show like this again, its embarrassing that might fellow musicians can be so unfriendly.

but doug…tell us how do you really feel?

hmmmm LA snobby, cold and cliquey? ?
i can't picture that….. :scared:

Glad he waited 3 years for the review   I am noboby and had a totally different feeling there
