he has been in bands with joni mitchell, james taylor, steve gadd, seal, michelle branch, robben ford, jimmy herring, wayne krantz, and recorded and jammed with the best of the best and most of them walk away humbly shaking their heads in disbelief.

my hero.

Indeed, he's up there :salute:

That old CAE controller labeling is a legend in itself too
my only regret is seeing him post-burning water/huge rack era.
but he was still using his BW mini rig and a DSL 2000 the first time i saw him.

He’s so tasteful in his playing.

I love all the space he leaves when he plays.

Then he can go into overdrive and tear it up
with the best of them.

Amazing guitar player.

Got to see him with Scott Henderson at La Ve Lee, back in the day, when Scott was a fixture there and routinely had awesome guests. Might even have footage of that show 🤩. Gotta dig it up

Scott is my fav all time player. And ofc they were insane together. But Landau is a master! His feel, distinct voice, clever and interesting phrasing and note choice etc, but maybe mostly the way he builds tension and guides to climax like telling a great story. Few can do it as well

sounds like a sick gig you saw! SH is killer but even he would defer to ML as the man.

can’t mention the greatness of mike without acknowledging his unbelievable tone.

as good as some of his recordings are, folks haven’t really heard anything until they’ve seen and heard him in person, preferably at the baked potato.

🤌🤌🤌,, can't believe I left that part out . U are absolutely right. HRD + pedals is as basic bich as it gets,, but magic under his fingers

Weyl shit, while we're at it He also writes cool ass fun tunes. My fav:

those are great examples of magic mike. but hearing him unload 3D sonic space dust at the potato at full volume messes with your equilibrium and causes mood swings!

Thought i was somehow logged back on to HRI for a minute!!! Wonder what a tri stereo chorus into a Larry sounds like 😂
the ultimate would be interviewing bradshaw, landau and luke in front of their rack rigs and talking through and demoing each piece, how they set and route the signals, including the story of how the tri stereo became a thing…

I got heavily into the Burning Water and Raging Honkies.
Beyond that, not so much, but he’s an amazing guitar player. The note choice, phrasing, the emotions he pulls out of the instrument. He’s in a class by himself.
super inspirational tones and performances.
