There is no question that the Catrell / Staley fusion was just one of those magical musical partnerships that just "worked"....They were greater than the sum of the parts. "Dirt" was just one of those records...The songs, the tone, the tempo, the feel, and just the overall vibe...Start to finish. In my opinion it is one of the greatest hard rock records ever recorded, and still feels fresh and current today. OFTEN imitated...But never even a miles distance to being being duplicated. That being said the current AIC continues to write and record a quality product...But they will never get that potent again, not without Layne.
