I prefer Bone nuts but try this also in the slots, it will help

This winding method is a fucking game changer. Improves tuning stability dramatically on any guitar, including LP's. Add nut sauce and you're all set.

Good luck, I have to tune my LP after every song. Always the G string, never fails.

If you want to stay in tune use a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster. ;)

By the way, I used a Les Paul Custom and an SG Standard for years and I was in perfect tune. It takes work, but it's possible.

Since you know what you are doing I would say it's the guitar and the issue is going to be beyond simple and not worth dumping a load of cash in it. Could be so many things from the neck, wood, truss rod or even the body hardware inserts not drilled properly, etc..
As good as some of us think we are there are some issues that we just won't solve. Sell it off and wave goodbye. :salute: Or your other idea to destroy it seems like a good one. I think you get angry so maybe it will make you feel better

funny you say that....I have a pv falcon(pv strat) with a kahler spyder that will not go out of tune.

I switched from Les Pauls to PRS,tuning headaches gone...

Don't laugh watch the video, most tuning issues are the way you string and get the slack out of the string. you just may learn something. been changing my strings like this for years, no tuning issues at all and yes I use the dreaded 9's tuned down A 1/2 STEP.

I agree to stretch the strings. Some say it kills the strings tone but I think it's a must. I prefer this method on non locking tuners and nuts. What method are you using OP?

I have the same brand as the poster of this thread I have the same problem and it was set up once already ..nut cut, lubed, strings wrapped correctly no squeaks on the nut etc ..on mine the tuning window is real narrow its on or way off it will tune up then its out pretty quick ..the odd thing is some strings are sharp the next day ..and I live in a decent climate have no problems with my set up Gibsons even my cheap melody maker will stay in tune I'm wondering if it has to do with FGN cuicular fretting design ..its at the tech once again

+1
I have a PRS custom 24, I tune it maybe twice a month. NO JOKE!

I'm fully stretching strings every time I restring and have been locking strings on the locking Tuners forever. I use a slightly different method but not another one of my guitars has ever fell out of tune like this.

I swapped Tuners for some hipshots I had for another build and they aren't moving at all yet the problem persists. Having a third but for it cut currently but if I can't get this one to stay in tune I do t know what I'm gonna do... I am 400 in the hole on setups etc and still haven't resolved anything. Literally at my wits end with this guy and literally can't understand what could be throwing it off everytime I touch the strings.

Any other ideas?

Also please note tried up .15 on this as I'm already sacrificed by this nut for another and still no change when basically stringing it with bridge cables.

You have some other issue going on, how high on the posts is the bridge ? Is it waaay up there ? If so the neck angle is incorrect and the bridge may be moving a bit on the posts throwing you off. I saw a LP Classic like this years ago for sale, I couldn't believe how high the bridge was on it.

For the record, I have 2 81 LP Customs, an 81 Standard, a 2000s Classic and a 2012 LP Traditional Pro all with stock hardware and NONE of them have tuning problems as long as the strings are stretched, wound correctly, and I ALWAYS tune UP to pitch (meaning if you're sharp you HAVE to tune down below pitch and come back up after giving the string a tug...works EVERY time) or you'll chase your tail. I have a '61 Gibson ES 345, a 6/12 doubleneck (think Jimmy Page), an 81 Explorer, an Ibanez Destroyer and some other Gibson style guitars and NO tuning issues.

Good luck OP...

FJN.....don't throw anymore money at it.

I'm with Steve here. Sometimes the neck wood and or truss rod just is inferior and there's not much can be done about it. In the early 2000's I had a J Frog superstrat with a Floyd Rose setup that had no resonance and the tuning was erratic. I had a luthier look at it and he said the neck wood was spongy and there wasn't much that could be done it was to the point where the truss rod couldn't counter act the give of the neck. I sold the guitar at a loss to a collector that wasnt' going to play it like I was so it all worked out. My old Kramer's never go out of tune period.

Sound like you've tried about everything. In a lot of videos I hear a lot of Les Paul D and G's going out of tune, even the high dollar LP Boutiques but I won't mention the builders, I'm sure you've heard it too. I think it boils down to sometimes you get a lemon...

I think that's why we all end up with our favorite guitars that we play all the time and then others just don't seem to measure up to our favorites.

There might be something with the bridge I've noticed you can't get it as low as a real Gibson or it buzzes ..mines still at the tech hopefully something can be done with this

Watch the latest Tim and Pete guitar show and see what Tim says about Les Paul's and tuning.
