I have a jap Orville lp standard ri that someone had a Gibson Verneer headstock overlay on years ago before anyone knew about orvilles. It is tobacco sunburst with hard case for about $700 and plays nicely. If interested let me know.

I think the current EC-1000 T/CTM are full thickness as well.
+1 - I have one & really like it. Did some upgrades, but it was great stock.

I like the used Gibson Les Paul Studios. Like any les Paul you have to look at bit, but I have liked the 3 LP studios I have played.

Totally agree. I was in a guitar shop last October when a guy walked in a traded a black LP Studio. Paintwork had dings in it but otherwise it was perfectly true and mild fret wear. Scored it for about US$500.
I do my own fret work so that cost me nothin'. Put a TonePros tuneomatic bridge, Suhr SSV neck and SSH+ bridge pickups (same as my Suhr Guthrie Govan Set Neck) and a bone nut. Total would be around your upper mark of $750.

I melted the paint off so it's now still bare (left the neck as is). One day i will decide what to do with it cosmetically - but for now, it plays like butter and it rips!

Why buy a copy when you can get the real deal in that price range used?

Well, I decided I would take a chance and try out one of the michael Kelly Patriots. Got the vintage amberburst as I have to admit i didn't want a straight black or white (got those colours covered) There was a buy now and best offer on ebay so I threw up 440$ for a new guitar and they accepted so we'll see how she fares. I plan to throw some dimarzio 36 anni PAFS in once I get it but all depends on the quality of the stock pups. I read a lot of reviews on these and a lot of people like them for gigging and even recording. Korean vs. Chinese made. (if that makes a diff though apparently better quality control) I'll report back when I have it seeing as there really is little info on these..
