These threads can be a lot of fun, but usually they get all screwed up because people choose to post pictures of their entire collection of gear, not of an actual functioning rig. This thread seems to be going a bit better than some in the past.

I agree. Not my collection just my tentative live-rig for this summer, minus the pic of my effects rack.

Cool to see another VintageModern user out there! Awesome amp..........

Yeah, I'm using the VM Head as a backup right now. The DSL 50 is my main rig running into both the 1960B & 425B. Sounds killer!

I'm still trying to figure out the VM. Having a hard time getting my sound out of that amp to be honest.

Depending on what you're going for, it can be a little tricky. You really have to experiment with the Body and Detail controls to find what you want. When I first got it, I kinda struggled getting anything other than a good clean-slightly-overdriven sound. So I used it with drive pedals and it LOVES PEDALS! After a while, I started fiddling with some radical settings like leaving the Body all the way down, cranking the Detail and then use the EQ to taste. Sounded pretty good. Then I started bringing in the Body EVER so slightly and you can hear the character of the drive completely change. BIG TIME. Then I did the opposite. Detail all the way down, Body up almost all the way - and started bringing in the Detail in tiny increments. BOOM!!!! There it was!!! The JCM800 tone I had heard about!! LOL!!!

The VM has been a "love it or hate it" kind of amp....but I'm convinced eventually people will figure out how amazingly versatile it is. Even guys who had the amp at one time are going to rediscover it's charm down the road. I think the fact that it's single channel limits it's practicality for a lot of guys, but if it's paired with another amp or you just need one or two really good tones - it's a sweet amp.

Sweet, thanks for the tips! I'll give them a shot!

I don't really have a good picture of my rig except this one I quickly took at show we did with Quiet Riot over the weekend... Splawn QR into a stock 1960A, Line 6 G50 Wireless, runs out to my board, starts with a input hub for easy set up/tear down, then Zakk Wylde Wah, Maxon OD808, MXR Chorus, MXR Carbon Copy, MXR script Phase 90, Boss TU-2 and my 2 stage guitars are my custom painted Gunslinger and my Iceman

Massive sounding rig. At rehearsals we've been messing around with a Radial Headbone to switch between the Splawn and a Mesa for different tones for different songs until I get myself a Nitro for this particular band but right now that's my live get up

Nice rig, who modified the buttons on your ADA footswitch ?

Thanks! I did the mod several years ago. After I broke two of the original switches. I've had this controller since the mid 90s, and didn't see the need to spend big money to buy a new one. Lol. They work great and this old unit keeps going. :)

I've got an MC-1 and an MXC. Awesome units!! I don't think I'll ever part with them. The MC-1 I've had since like '89 and has had so much liquid spilled on it, been dropped, and even sat in an inch of water in a flooded basement practice space, and it's still going strong!! I love the MXC's compact design - fits on pedal boards very easily.

Mine looks pretty much the same, except it's hidden by a fort of mattresses.

Just got back from the Shiva Audio Devices lab to get back my newly wired rig!!

just sounds and looks freaking amazing!!

please check out the guy since he's top notch and got some pretty good sounding FXs under the hood for you folks!
