lets see what your rig looks like 2015

I just recently replaced my Cobra and have had to do a major overhaul on my rig to get everything functioning the way I want it to be. I'm still working on where I want everything racked and all the cabling. It's taking forever to get finished but I plan on having a lot of free time coming up real soon.

The basic setup is an EVH Stealth into a VHT FatBottom 412 cab. For my rhythm sound I'm boosting the blue chan with a Maxon od808 and running into a Boss NS-2 up front with an iSP Decimator-2 in the loop. I'm using a Maxon AD9Pro (delay) in the loop for leads. For clean sounds a CP9Pro+ (compressor) up front and an MXR Carbon Copy (w/ the chorus on) in the loop.

Pretty simple setup except I've got a couple of looper/switches and an amp function switch in the mix to pop everything in and out and to handle channel switching on the amp. Cutting all the patch cables and soldering the ends is really driving me nuts.

I have a few rigs that havent changed in years although there have been some amps I'd like to have, YJM head, Friedman and Kemper I don't see the need as I like what I can get out of the stuff I have...which why it stays put.

Everything below. Plus a beat to shit 1960B cab and a couple Washburns I just picked up for cheap..MG94 USA and an X50 MIK. Nice guitars, both for under 500…..total.

Trippy.......from straight on it looks like a Marshall VintageModern cab.......but when viewed from the top, it's ACTUALLY an EVH 2x12!!!........

Cool rig though....all kidding aside!

Wow....FANTASTIC tone, man!!! Are you running an attenuator of any kind? I cannot even fathom how loud that 200 watt Major can be. My YJM is downright PAINFUL opened up full-bore at 100 watts.

Thank you!!

No I don't do any attenuating at all but what I've installed in my Major is called a Post Phase Inverter Master Volume mod. (PPIMV)

It's a master volume that ties in at the phase inverter allowing you to crank the front end (preamp) up volume I & II for more gain, while enabling you to keep the amps power tube stage at a lower volume.
So what you're hearing is all preamp overdrive.
Turning the master volume all the way up and bring down channel I & II volumes down, make the amp head stock again.

It's kinda like attenuating between the preamp stage and power stage, it's a really cool mod and a must have for a 200 watt beast like the Major.

Ah - gottcha. I kinda wondered after I typed my response if that mod had something like that in play - now I know. Well, I must say that it does the trick! Sounds really good.

What kind of preamp tubes you running?

Roccaforte Jenelle 80/100 - W/D setup(PDI-03, TC D-Two, 2/50/2). 1 Uberkab stock, the other a different blend.

Gave up and went digital last year....had no place really to play my tube amps, and now that they're gone I'm jamming with guys once or twice a week at a jam spot down town.

Anyway, bought an AxeII from a RT forum bro:

Bought a few guitars this year already....74 strat, Ibby baritone, EVH and an 89 BB:

Threw a Het set into my GT cause fuck yeah:

Bought a bass cause WTF not?

Keep the Bandit with an SD-1 around just because it's sentimental and brutal:

Pretty stoked with gear right now....always looking for more though. Kinda want a KxK again, and a certain Jazzmaster is calling my name. See what happens with the rest of the year. Wouldn't mind scoring another Recto for jams.

You're very welcome! Thanks for sharing the clip! Thanks for the info. Something about those KT88's too!! I've got KT66's in my VintageModern and there is just something about them that I just love. It brings a "roundness" to the tone without adding a tone of bass or something. Probably why I can't bring myself to part with that amp. A lot of people don't like the VM's, but I love it!!
