I think you are taking this way too personally. IMHO it's a silly poll. I've owned two Herbert's and a VH4. I now own a 5153 that I've had for a good while. I'd take the 5153 all day long over any Diezel that I had. Two heads out of the three had issues and had to be returned to be fixed. On top of the I found the tone to be overly compressed and sterile. See it's all subjective. I dont give a shit what the consensus of this forum is on my personal choices in amps.

Yes and I still would prefer it over a 100watt Diezel. Higher watts mainly effects headroom with some effect on the bottom end. I have plenty of headroom with my 50 watt. With modern amps and depth knobs etc the extra bass you get in higher watts isn't as much of a factor in my experience. So the watts is a non point iMHO and not sure how this poll is even presented as such .

I have some experience with the original 100 watt EVH and VH4. Between those two, the VH4 was a better amp for me. The EVH sounded absolutely killer at first. Totally an instant gratification experience. After playing it for awhile though, there's something really fatiguing about the high end and it becomes almost processed sounding to me. Still, it's a nice amp for sure.

All of my time with the VH4 has been very enjoyable but it's been mostly in the studio or jamming solo. I'm just being picky here and I still think the EVH stuff is great and I would like to put the 50w through its paces.

lots of great stuff on this forum, this thread may not be a highlight. But I'm genuinely curious to see if more people prefer a 50W Mexican made , cheap component, fizzy metal amp over a World Class level Legendary German precision made 4 Channel masterpiece.

The 100s and the 50s are both made in Mexico. World class touring bands uses these mexican amps to some success...

The 100s and the 50s are both made in Mexico. World class touring bands uses these mexican amps to some success...

If you know something let us know, but it sounds like you're just speculating. My guess is no more or less than the pros mod any other amp. Plenty of people get the Kruse Kontrol thing on diezels or update the older vh4 to current spec.

Ever since I modded my 100w to Stealth specs,I haven't touched my 50 watter. Not for any reason in particular other than the Stealth just has bigger balls. Keeping the 50 around for backup duty though.

Here's the deal...if I said that "My Jubilee shits all over the EVH 5153, then takes out back and....." I'd have been ripped on for 100+ posts. The EVH police would have swooped in. Hell they did when I asked If they would take their 5153 50 over ANY amp at ANY price. Tons of butthurt over me asking that question. Fn joke. I've had 2 of them..but compared to the VHT Deliverance, any one of 5 Cameron's, 5 Jubilees, assorted JCM 800s, JMPs, SLO.....you get the picture. The 5153 is a backup to me in what I like compared to ANY of those previous amps. Its a decent amp that offers a lot of features. But it just sounds sterile compared to at least 10 amps I've owned. Not a Diezel guy but I have played through a VH4 and it has an articulation to it that puts it right up there with an SLO. And features, thump....it belongs at the top with the rest of the big dogs.

I don't boost my Diezels, or any of my Amps for that matter. I have made demos where I will do it in the video to show what it sounds like for people, but thats because there is an OD on my Pedalboard. If you feel that I "nuked" you I'm sorry.
