So I ended up getting one, we talked I had similar concerns. I didn't want like a driftwood.

Cleans listening to the video. It's reactive to pickups which plays a role. But it's a bit more than that. I gravitated towards the brilliant mode at first. But find the warm setting has a lot of what I was looking for in terms of feel/sound. Second the eq. Like I'm finding low treble high mid and right other settings. It didn't disappoint. That said it's not my favorite cleans. But it's up there.

The gain section. Similarly people are going to gravitate towards sounds they like here. The amp does extreme. The in between takes some work but does a good job. The right setting on bite switch, eq, guitar. You can get more out of it. Also the switches play a role. My noise gate buffers signal still which can affect. Cut does something as well to overall sound. It's great. And it's one part of the sound.

And the amp is easy for high gain dialing. It does other sounds. But it's hard because one millimeter in a knob turn is the difference between vintage and aggressive.

My two cents. Thought id share since we conversed on this a few months ago.
Yeah I appreciated the info. I still wanna try one later on if I get a chance and see what I think. As always I AB them with my benchmark favorite high gain amps that are hard to rival. It's about the journey for me trying to figure what (to me at least) are the very best gear items out there

I won't say anymore until I try the amp myself LOL, but I'm not so optimistic
You just have to try them all don't you...LOL! There's just some shit I'm not even interested in and this is one. Hermansson, Driftwood, Diezel, Friedman, many others just don't interest me enough to pull the trigger...funny what gets our juices flowing and what just doesn't stoke interest.

Yeah I'm so close to trying what's left on my list and just wanna finish already lol and move on to another chapter. Driftwood and Friedman imo isn't worthwhile. Hermansson's imo can be great and unique, but might not be your cup of tea. The '90's Blueface and earlier Diezel's are special, but other than that haven't liked any Diezel's either

If you're not interested in it then maybe you agree in a way 😅. I think in general when guys say someone can make anything sound good it means they like how their recordings/clips sound overall and can't tell what to think of the amp demoed

Low end kinda sucked, really did the riffs no favors.

Love this dudes riffs but that was one of his weakest tones.
Agreed. The overall sound lacked balls to me, especially on palm mutes. I think because of the guy’s riffs/playing and way of recording they like anything he puts out, but this amp doesn’t seem as promising to me

I didn’t have a lot of time to really dial in a tone but just did a quick clip.

Honestly I like your tone here WAY more than the OP’s linked clip. Lotta grind. Seems maybe in some ways like a better Engl Artist or Savage from that clip

I do still hear some of that filtered, less ballsy sound, but really like that aggressive grind. I’m more interested now lol

I really didn’t mess with the settings much. You can see mainly around noon so it can only get better once I spend more time with it.

Yeah will be cool as you explore it more. How heavily were you boosting it with your TS? Would be cool to hear it straight in too with no pedals

I hated the Asshater pedal, that was my least favorite pedal I've ever owned I think.
Yeah the noise gate I had by them was awful too (in tone color it added), but I like this clip Chronic Narnia posted of the Prometheus

Maxon OD808 gain 0, level max, tone middle. I have other boosts and stuff to try too. Listening back with headphones I think it could use some treble or presence but it feels really good to play, especially the palm mutes.

Sorry did you record using line out, with mics/cab, something else?

I used mics/cabs. It turned out pretty good for sm57. Your snapshot though is good and something missing from mine.

It does feel good but have you tried with presence and gain quite high? It feels like I'm going through like a greg Brady bead door. Or a thousand little windchimes and I'm the wind. It's the only way I can put it.

Listening on my end I wouldn’t feel the need for more presence or treble, but I would be curious to hear it unboosted too straight in if you get a chance

Guy is a good player and his recordings always sound great but.....amp demos with 1 setting don't do it for me

I listed the signal chain in the description of the video. I use the Fryette PowerStation as the loadbox then into IRs. No real cabs or mics involved in that clip.
