I think a lot of it will come down to IR's if it FOH sound.
FAS has said the IR is like 75% of the sound going direct.
The Nasal hi gain is likely bad cab model ,users have already said they have to use the Hi cut in speaker tab ,Maybe L6 should tweak that on upcoming Firware.
I am curious there was one guy on gear page that has owned everything once ,twice or 8 times .lol and he said the Helix is a lot closer to the Kemper , Axe than he thought it would be .
I guess people will have to decide if it close enough ,the biggest thing in reviews is how much fun it is and ease of use .so they succeeded there for sure.

Once people load some really good IRS like the Ownhammers Fractals , then we will see .Amplifire sounds very good for price point BUT when you add some custom IRs it is a ton better IMO .Helix should be the same

Yeah he's a great player & the tones in the vid are impressive enough considering he's using single coils for everything & just the included cab IRs.......

Being able to load any 3rd party IR you want, can take a tone that is just pretty good & make it very good.

While I know the Helix won't be Axe2 good as far as tones, it really doesn't have to. As long as it's close enough......its sleek modern looks/huge LCD screen/scribble strips/easy workflow & tons of routing options will make this a very popular home jam/recording & bar band piece of gear.

But of course for pure amp tones/variety of amps/effects, the Fractal AX8, at $1399 with almost everything the Axe-Fx XL+ has & with exactly the same tone/firmware as the XL+, will sell like a shitstorm! lol

I'm taking a wait and see approach. I've been really tempted to just grab an Amplifier but the added ability to act as an effects floorboard with 4CM is what makes the Helix tempting, but not at it's current price.

The Ax8 looks like it's NOT designed for 4CM, it was was then who in their right mind would bother with the FX8.

I've owned the Axe standard and Axe-2 twice. They're good tools but they didn't replace my amp seeing that you can spend $200 and get BIAS Desktop it makes me think twice before dropping money on a modeler.

Why do they always have to look like A$$ though ,who are these peoples designers , lets make a Huge screen grill ,and put a little bitty logo ,in a color that matches nothing else , oh and wait a tan handle

we need to ditch the 1950 science lab look and go for something that is a little more like "modern" imo

we need to ditch the 1950 science lab look and go for something that is a little more like "modern" imo

Agreed, it looks like shit. Plus no screen, which means you have to connect it to a damn ipad or computer. Some of us in IT do not want to look at a computer or IPAD at the end of the day.

This is the first one I've heard with 3rd party IR's. This one is with a Redwire IR.

well despite the ridiculous amounts of delays verbs .It actually sounds about 20 times better than the prior SLO clips that were thin .

I honestly think IR is going to be a BIG deal

I think L6 hangs pretty decently on most except the SLO .lol

Saw these over at TGP. The Friedman comparison was really nice. So was the Vox. I think L6 can definitely hang if they commit to further update/development and DO NOT CHARGE for it! LOL! Cliff may rub people the wrong way but he is committed as heck to continuing to improve on a great platform. At this price point I don't think people will be ok with paying for updates to tones and features from L6.

Sounds great through my Yamaha HS8M's now waiting for my Friedman ASM12 to arrive. I'll let you know what I think once that lands and I try it out.
