i think this is my first clip in 2026, got some new drum heads and my kit is sounding much better than before so i had to make a clip. all i been playing out of for months is the Line6 Ubermetal pedal in the famous "Pulverize" mode into my Ampeg v50h set clean to my Crate 4x12 with v30s, so i said lets see how it records.

Sounds good!

How are you running the setup? How much gain are you dialing into the Ampeg before the pedal hits it?

thanks. the amp is set clean, its NMV and dosent start breaking up till about 11 oclock, this was at about 8:30. this has has the purest clean tone of any of my amps so i use it for a pedal platform

I'm a little wishy washy on the guitar tone, it sounds like it has good grind and aggression but is a little flat sounding - idk that might be mic position or it might be inherent to the pedal

OTOH I freaking love the drum sound, shit sounds great. The reverb makes the drums sound huge

sounds great man, is this just double-tracked?

quad (y)

probably a bit of both, i used a TLM103 i put on the edge of the cap, might be a little too smooth on its own. adding a 57 or just moving it dead on might be better. im pumped on the drums too, took me a long while without using samples to get them really decent sounding, think im getting close though. now i just gotta learn to play

There's a ton of potential there, I really like the gain character of the sound it just seems like it's a little flat

I would try both of the things you mentioned, the 57 and just moving it closer to the cone, to see what happens

I would also maybe mess around with a clean blend of some kind? like a boost with a clean blend in front of the ubermetal, and set it to be as transparent and non-boosty as possible or something? That might help with the clarity and making it seem less "flat" too

Yeah i'm stoked on the drum sound man it's killer! The reverb and everything is perfect

Yup already an improvement - it sounds quite a bit more lively just from moving the mic a bit or whatever you did

I would say there's more to be mined out of that tone though still

Either the clean blend of a pedal before it in the chain, maybe lowering the gain and quad tracking it? I would try a bunch of shit to see what permutations you can wrangle out of it

i did quad track it with with the gain lowered on two of em, looking now though the treble was only at about 10 oclock on the pedal, if i bump that up a little it will be good i think. im gonna take my time and really try and capture this thing, the smashbox, and a few others i have that im always saying i could use as my main rig that i never really recorded.

oh my god i freaking LOVE the smash box

I think it sounds good. Oddly it kinda reminds me of a little heavier early Motley Crue tone.
