go play some bass guitars with active EMG, Bartolini, and MEC. doesn't take long to figure out that people are doing active way better than EMG.

  Tried most of them, still have EMGs in my Spector.

Nice jugs...Jugg

SEYMOUR DUNCAN SUPER V !!!

trust me dude im a hardcore emg user myself and i HATE passives for my metal tones, i tried this duncan super v and it blew me away....it doesnt have that weak sound or feeling like passives have for high gain stuff, it sounds pretty massive

it actually feels just like an emg 81, it has the tightness and punch of an emg with the warmth and dynamics of a passive

i did a vid to compare both the 81 and the super v in maple bodied guitars, they sound almost identical

check it out

i play my m1 tiger first which has the super v in it, than i play my kamikaze which has the emg 81

Don't think the two sound alike in your video but, definitely the Super V sounded better to me with whatever settings you had up on your Uberschall!

Dimarzio Deactivator - Passive made to sound like an active, I've never played them but apparently they're good. :S

I own a set, wouldn't recommend. Too thin in the body and too much scratch up top. I guess if they were going for an EMG type of sound they achieved it, but as a standalone pickup I wouldn't recommend it.

I have a friend who switched from EMG to the Duncan Alternative 8 and LOVES them.....

FWIW, I tried the Bare Knuckle pick-ups and hated them..... Just not my thing.
from what ive heard im not so much a fan either ,im sure they sound great for some people , but not really what im looking for im very interested in trying the aldrich pickups mark day posted a vid of the suhr od100se and the punch and attack of his pickups is what im after

Mark has been using different sets of SD blackouts in his Suhr Modern

thanks man, that helped alot i like the overall sound of the super v lots of saturation there and pretty similiar to the emg,.. the emg is cleaner with a touch more sharpness , but the super v is definatly a consideration how is it for solo tones

Since these are splittable, they should work with a rotary switch

http://www.emginc.com/products/category/239/1

They might not do exactly the same as the passives, but you can get single coil sounds etc.

sounds good for anything

its just a really thick sounding pickup it has pretty good note separation also, if i ever went passive id deff have the super v in all my bridges

Let us know how that goes. I'm curious to know what an Aldrich sounds like in a PRS. :)
