Went and saw Loudness last Saturday and they were incredible! They really lived up to their name, there were incredibly loud, my ears are still a little funny today. Should have brought some ear plugs but usually clubs are pretty tame from that standpoint, i guess they didn't get the memo. Looks like Akira was using a rented back line of two marshall halfstacks, the one with all the knobs (modern?). And he had the marshall preamp pedal on his board, sorry didn't take any pics :(

The whole band was playing great, so check them out if they come by your area.

Cool to hear they're sounding good. How are the vocals?

Love Loudness. Saw them a few years ago for the first time. Seeing them this Saturday.

When I was in HIGH school, I had their Lightning Strikes tape, yup , tape, and loved it, Still have it, but nothing to play it in.. :D , but would love to see em, but I doubt they will be in my neck of the woods. Dudes could shred!

They played two hours from me on a Thursday night, I just couldn't justify the drive (especially with a 17 month old at home). I loved Loudness in high school, everything from Disillusion on through On the Prowl. I thought that Exploder was one of the coolest solos ever. He was a perfect blend of all of his influences, yet still had his own sound. You could hear Gary Moore, Van Halen, and Schenker, and maybe even Wolf Hoffman's riffs, but it was still Akira.

Man... I should have gone! I was planning to go, but I got a FREE ticket to Lita Ford the night before. I was too tired to go out two nights in a row.

GETTING OLD SUCKS!!!

Anyone ever figure out what MZA meant?

Here is an bit from an interview with them:

Niihara: Actually it does not have any meaning. When we were doing pre-production for the Thunder in the East album, I did not have any lyrics for Crazy Night then, so I sung total nonsense as a guide vocal for the demo recording. I sung “M.Z.A.” by accident and the producer Max Norman liked the line, even though that did not have any meaning. We were trying to create some cool line but we could not beat “MZA.” Max ended up deciding to use ”M.Z.A.” for the real take.

We sorta do the same thing.....but not MZA.
More like "Peas and Broccoli" Those 2 words have slipped into many a jam session.

Wow, that's cool. Flash in a pan with "Rock and Roll Crazy Nights" from thirty years ago?
How the hell did they milk that this long to tour now?
Was it "Thunder" or "Lightening Strikes" something like that in my high school years? Blast from the past for sure. Good player back then fo sho..
He did have a good sound back then. Kind of desirable really

Saw a u tube of Akira going over his gear, its all in Japanese so difficult to watch but at the end he shows his JVM knob settings. Both OD1 and OD2 have gain on full. Unbelievable!

edit: scroll to 6:00 mark for amp settings.

Got my tickets for next wed in OKC. Saw them in a dive bar on the last US tour.
Akira was using a JMP1 & Fryette power amp. Loudest stage volume ive ever been in front of.
Sounded killer! I was literally standing in front him the whole night.
Very cool experience. I rocked out like i was a teenager.

Caught Loudness 4-5 times and Every show was Bad Ass.
Akira quite possibly is The Loudest at stage volumes/cranked amp as I have ever heard as well.

Thanks imzadimark, had no idea they were playing in OKC. I'm going on Wednesday now because of you. Thanks brother!!

I guess you can turn the JVM gain up to full if the amp is cranked? Otherwise, it sounds like bees to me!
