I've seen George a few time over the past decade. Most of the time he's playing a plexi and looking like he is struggling. Looks like he's playing a DSL and has the gain up a bit. Seems to work well for him. Good performance.

How can you tell he is playing a DSL? He usually boosts anyway so he probably stepped on a pedal and left it on through his usual MArshall.

are there any recent studio tunes he released that hinted at his former shreddery?

I was trying to figure out where George played the main riff on this song and found this video. Looks like he was using a plexi. He did seem to struggle with it a bit but these guys sound great together and his tone was awesome. This singer sounds good.

He's WAY under powered there, not sure what he was going for there but sounded a bit like Malmcolm Young gain so maybe the amp was having tube issues. Def needed to step on a pedal. But yes, those good ol bare bones DSL' on that crunch channel with a boost seem to serve Nuno and many others just fine in a pinch. In recent years it really feels like he wants the amp to do it all and wants to work for every note but his style just doesn't fit that sound. He needs to goose his amps or just start off with a hotter amp.

Here's a little back story on Jeff Blando.....really good player obviously; was Vince Neil's lead player from time to time over the years. 10 yrs ago I was finding/flipping Crate Stealths on eBay....I'd pick em up for 150$ usually, sell for 3-400. Jeff contacted me and bought 2 from me. He told me long ago he was endorsed by SLM; and the Stealth was his amp of choice. Marshalls on stage; powered on but always a Crate or 2 behind the stage actually running through the cabs. A local sound guy used to go out to the Sturgis rally in SD; he confirmed the Crate story as he saw them while running sound check for the Vince Neil band.

@Jdub you have that photo of his board and the Tele when we saw him??? I remembered at least a pair of 4x12 facing backwards and covered and loud as fuck 😏 Allegedly the Tele was from Billy Gibbons

It is kind of weird when people set up their gear to have to fight it. I don’t need the gain on 10, but it’s so nice to be on stage and the sound is just fluid.

I've seen George quite a few times....we he is on he plays some really great stuff.....when he is off or in a bad mood it isn't pretty at times.
He was super on when @Jdub and I caught him in PDX, but massive shit show potential was there for sure.
