That is the mix they released a couple months ago. Tune sounds good but I don't like the mix at all. Looking forward to this Tuesday when it comes out.

I look forward to it too.

I'll always have a soft spot for Machine Head because I clearly remember in '94 hearing Old on the Radio and thinking, thank fuck Metal is still alive and moving forward. There was Pantera but Pantera's sound is so singular and Machine Head's was classic but so new as well. People take all the single harmonic drones and accents for granted as they've been all over for years but this was the first band I heard doing it. That being said I haven't really followed them much past their 2nd album as I didn't like the 3rd one at all and lost interest. I think I got too old for Robb's super melodramatic delivery and lyrics but these guys can still kick out some real tasty rhythms and breakdowns. Dave Maclean is a beast of a drummer. That first album is so, so good.

The one and only time I saw them live was at the old Ballard Firehouse in Seattle. Stuck Mojo opened up I think. Ricjh Ward had one of the best live tones I've ever heard. It was a Soldano modded, JMP.

I was supposed to meet up with Robb today and help him dial in some sounds for his rig, but he got busy with press stuff. Im not really into his music, but hes a real cool guy

That's cool he does seem like a nice guy. You know what amp he is using? The first thing I would say is don't change a thing your sound is crushing. :)

+1 Hearing Burn my Eyes changed my life I believe. One of the better live bands I've seen. Saw them 3 times and they always deliver.

The new album is ok but I don't fancy their 7-10 minute songs...

LET FREEDOM RING WITH A SHOTGUN BAAALLLLAAAASTTTT

Heavy as a goats ass!
I'm diggin this new one! I saw them at Ozzfest circa 1997... They were killer.

You really ought to check out Through the Ashes of Empires and The Blackening (and of course this new one). MH let their old second guitarist go and picked up Phil Demmel prior to the release of TTAOE...IMO Phil's presence brought the band back to MH's metal roots (Phil also played with Robb in Vio-Lence back in the day). For me, I like TTAOE better than anything else they've done, but I generally only dig 2 or 3 songs off each of their albums. I'm interested to hear their new one. They consistently put out killer opening tracks on each release, though.

I am diggin the new one quite a bit, I dont mind the 7 min songs as they dont feel like there 7 min long.

I'm pretty sure they used 5150's early on but don't know what else they may have used.

yeah
honestly, sick of the locust song though...first week on liquid metal, they played at the top of every hour.....great song though, just overplayed, ready to hear the rest of the album. the blackening was unreal, i have high expectations for this one.

other songs im currently tired of hearing every fucking hour....symphony x-iconoclast and devildriver blur.

honest to shit, there ARE other songs on the albums....sirius seems to be getting more and more away from the original programming of playing variety...and only playing "the devil's dozen".
the "classic metal never dies" tracks are the same 3-5 songs....something from overkill, that shitty anvil song, and some dumb post punk, pre metal tune.

jose needs to reprogram the programming.

/rant.

cant wait for the new machinehead album either!

he just started using the ultras. I believe he recorded using the 5150 stuff

I appreciate MH but for some reason I just cant get into them. Dunno why. I like SKINLAB who where said to be a MH rip off band, a lot better.

  Reminds me of Metal Mania on VH1 classic. Every time I tune in either Scorpions (Rock you or No One Like you), Dio (Holy D or Rainbow in te Dark) or Iron Maiden (usually Run to the Hills) is playing. If you're extra special you get Priest with Another thing or Breaking the Law. Can't remember seeing anything else. :D

Unto the Locust is a full on metal assault...

the album could be summed up as Iron Maiden through a Machine head filter...

very dense with tons of leadwork, riffs and drum madness..the most progressive thing they have ever done..

Robb and Phil are easily the two of most down to earth and friendly people you could ever meet...

Robb said in an interview that he has an original 5150 that just sounds beast that he records. Live its the same but he doesn't use "that" specific one, just a slew of other 5150's, prolly moved on to 6505's but its the same exact amp anyway.
