Thanks Bob, the most consistent response has been, Marshall on the leads, and EVH on the rhthym. Both are great amps though! Thanks for the nice words!

That's such a nice recording, I'd be perfectly happy with both.

For what it's worth, if I would have to assign different roles to the amps, I would pick the EVH on rhythm and the Marshall on solo guitar. I like the cutting mids of the Marshall, and the EVH then delivers a different texture in the background.

If I would have to pick one amp based on this clip, it's the Marshall.

Nice playing man
I kinda lean towards the mids in the Marshall by a hair.
I think they both sound great  Its nice to hear some side/side clips like that

Hey guys. Thanks so much for the kind words! Craft, run a couple studios? Sounds like fun man! The EVH VS Marshall track was done at my home, with a little Korg console studio and a drum machine. Our EP, with the band was recorded by this cool fella named Provo Provenzano. He played in a metal band called Skinlab, and also has a few other projects. It was the first time he recorded a hard rock, that has more of a classic sound, but I thought he did a nice job. We do have cds, but I had to reorder, so Im waiting on that! The EP is quite a bit punchier, and louder than on the video, but for some reason, the video guy likes to squash the volume on all his productions, so yup! The guitars on that track were EVH with matching cab on rhythm, and a Bogner Uberschall / Marshall Cab for leads! Again, thanks again guys! I really appreciate it!

i gotta go with the DSL in this clip, i liked it alot.

Cool tunes, tones, and playing...well done and welcome aboard

As for the amps, I preferred the Marshall across the board.

Well, I guess I'm the only one who preferred the 5153 tones. I thought the DSL sounded really good, but I think the 53 has more of what I like to hear... I guess that's why I own one. :) I picked up your EP off iTunes. Great stuff!

SFW, thanks a million mate! Thats so cool of ya! You cant go wrong with that EVH either. With the matching cab its tonal bliss. Our Ep, is pretty much all EVH. Thanks again!

Can't go wrong with either.
That mullet in your vids is just trumping any gear/tone argument!!!

I have both. A good Marshall flavored stomp, like a Jetter R2 gets the EVH more like a Marshall. IMO the Xotic AC boost pulls the DSL in an EVH direction.

Both are great. The DSL100 is just such a great deal now.

Great playing and comparison vid!

This is an interesting comment. I've never had one, but thought the AC Booster was a tube screamerish kind of pedal. Can you go into some more detail on this observation? I'm a bit interested.

One thing, the EVH III has this fiz, like what you hear on the new VH, records. Its almost impossible to dial out! Its very nice, but you have to like that.

It feels a bit of compression with the AC. I have an OCD and Jetter R2 now. Have not had a tube screamer in a long long time. I can't honestly compare a pedal I have not used in a decade to the three I have by memory and feel it would be accurate.

The bass and treble controls on the Xotic really work as compared to some others. That is totally subjective though. The DSL with the deep button pushed is almost too deep, the Xotic adds some bite to the depth and it seems to fix it. you can dial back some of the bass, like a separate EQ Some on the Marshall forum share a mod to lessen the effect of the depth button. So with the slight compression of the pedal and effective EQ, you get the depth and punch similar to the 5153.

I will say the Xotic likes some amps more than others. I loved my Knuck Tre, but didn't sound so hot with my SLO. Typical pedal....
