This is 100% true in the south. It's like crack to mosquitos.
The city would come through my old neighborhood spraying clouds of some sort of insecticide for mosquitoes. You could literally see a hoard of them following the truck getting all stoned and shit.

Worst bugs I ever seen was when I moved to New Hampshire for a couple years. Black flies and mosquitoes were horrible. Moved back to West Virginia….no bugs…heaven…

You ever see any documenteries about why Africa is so resource rich and the people are poor and living so fucked up? Lots of similarities. My first job out of high school in 89 was a mine supply business. First time I went under…fuck that. Those miners deserve everything they get plus a whole lot more. Horrible job. I would take working in a prison over it every time.

I’ve been in a couple mines. Some are better than others. A well developed deep mine can actually be pretty comfortable as is 65-70 degrees year round. Motorized vehicles, big central caverns with office space, etc. But yeah, mining is tough work.

Used to be in lots of areas, coal mining was the only work you could find. Awful way to make a living. I remember an uncle who was always bent forward at the waist, couldn’t stand up straight due to a mine cave-in and walked around like that all his life. Healthcare, workers comp, etc were non existent in those days.
