Megadeth’s cover of Ride the Lightning leaked

Dave, to this day, still wants to be in Metallica so bad that he threw his OWN bass player under the bus!

Could it resemble something like this? Whatever the case I thought this was quite a entertaining rendition!

I see what you did there! :sneaky:

Master of Puppets and Justice are, to me, masterpieces, and also represents Metallica at their best. Black Album sucked and Metallica has sucked since (not true, entirely - I digress - Garage 2 is legit af and a cool follow-up to an instant classic fr Metallica, ‘back in the day' ). Mustaine had me the day I heard Peace Sells for the first time when it came out. Dave’s a badass and he always has been. He has his reasons for doing what he does today, and that’s cool, I respect that. For me, covering RTL comes across as some grand gesture he’d hoped would have been extended to him, I don’t know or care. Dave literally defined thrash metal and reflected the punk vibe of the times, all while pushing back on Hillary and Tippers efforts to “deter the devil”. Meanwhile, Metallica has defined what a near-instantly huge band can become as they grow over a period of years. Different things. Dave’s the man.

I like Dave, and Megadeth, and they have never hid the fact that he wrote a lot of those songs. I'm sure he did a bunch of the arrangement and riffs, etc.

I just don't understand why he has to be a dick 24/7 and seems so miserable. He has a winery and horses and is in one of the biggest bands in metal ever. I watched the Nick Menza documentary and seems like he was just a pain in the ass.
he's a red head haha

I think it is cool that Dave covered RTL and I personally don't think he did it because he hasn't gotten over it, etc. I'm sure he had to get permission from Metallica and at this point I think they probably thought it was cool but could be wrong.

Megadeth is just as good as Metallica IMO but not two bands that should be compared ever. Dave isn't going to sit down and write a "Nothing Else Matters".

I always though he had beautiful golden flowing locks like I did in my early 20's. Watch this video for Apex Mustaine hair:

he calls himself a red head .. I mean it ain't orange like Ed Sheeran but it look quite ginger in some photos

I think he just had hair identity disorder, very similar to body dysmorphia, he will always be remembered by his golden flowing locks to me. No homo.

Ah, I hope this is the case. Could very well be. Maybe just showing some respect for Metallica.

I thought he wrote the song or most of it ? Unless I'm mistaken I bet he didn't ask them for permission ?

Even though he wrote most of it, I can't imagine that he would just be able to put out that song. That would be like Vinnie Vincent doing an album and putting his own version of KISS "Unholy" there. I might be wrong.

Dee Snider always talks about the time he testified before congress against the PMRC. Not a fan of Twisted Sister but, props to Dee.

Dave wrote a song & embodied those times I was in as a teen, that’s cool to me. Dave’s a genius musician IMO.
