Really liked the Maiden clip, different from their normal Marshall tones (though I think that may have been a Gallien Krueger on the album?) Nice one mate!

I found that slaving amp heads into the Strategy 400 definitely gave them more balls and punch, as stated, but it also took away a tiny bit of interactive feel or touch sensitivity. This includes slaving various Mesas, Wizards and even a Larry.
This. Felt less 'immediate' if you will. Slaving my old SRG C+ sounded better through my 2B Coli I had at the time. But, there's no substitute for 400 watts (using the mono input) when you want to shake the windows.

Are those strategy 400's really 400 watts! Must be louder than hell! I need to get one. haha, how much do they usually go for? and how many power tubes do you have to put in them?

12 6L6s or 8 6L6 and 4 EL34; the 34s can be put on the back row without changing anything. 200w per side or 400w if you use the mono input. In normal times you could find one for 5-800; now I've seen them for 12-1500. They also have 2 pre tubes if I remember right.

Would you recommend a 60watt noneq for very aggressive music?
No.
Key here is, you must have one with a GEQ. Just be patient and wait for one with eq to pop up. I had an S, the only thing I liked about it was the super fast attack. Honky AF. Sure, I put an eq in the loop but you lose a good amount of tone that way.

My favorite C+ of all I owned(SRG, HRG, HRG++, KRG) was my SRG. As a 2C it was the most aggressive articulate open/raw amp I’ve ever played. Of course I had to upgrade it. Killer as a C+ but it lost some of that aggressiveness. In hindsight I should have left it. It also had that unique killer C+ feel, as a C…..

I’d say the tightest C+ of all were my HRGs; by just a touch over the Coli. SRG was tight too but maybe slightly less than the HRGs

I can confirm the same thing as the comment above. I’ve owned/played SG, SRGs, DRGs, HRG and KRG. I really loved the aggressiveness of the S series. It’s fast attack, aggression and clarity is incredible. It’s a Mini coliseum. Best of the best.

It was more aggressive as a C than as a C+???? wow!

S means super 60 watt right? so 60 watt WITH graphic eq is the one to go right?

By now I am into negotiations with a local legendary tech to modify my III green stripe, maybe if something really good comes out of this I will not need any C+..what do you guys think?

The + mod makes a C much smoother; so imo yes…but it was still an aggressive mean beast and my favorite after it became a C+.
But, it was even better as a C. Probably a total anomaly in the history of C/C+ but yes, in hindsight I wish I’d left it stock as a C. It was at least as raw/open sounding as any Wizard or Marshall I’ve owned. My old soundguy always asked me why I modded it lol

I put a triode switch on a long head green stripe MarkIII .
