Jinjer is excellent, all killer-no-filler, every album including their latest, Duél.

Goofy fun songs
Goofy is what I meant lol
There’s great young bands . But not many .I find it hard to listen to younger metal bands. Maybe it’s just that metal has always been pushed by people of the same general young age and I’ve aged out from being younger and looking up at those guys, to being older than them and now seeing newer metal bands as a bunch of children wearing their dads’ jackets playing pretend and trying to look tough. It’s just lame.
Then again there’s also a trend I’ve noticed, where metal has tended to fall away from right hand-centric strength and ferocity, and more into left hand-centric grace and dexterity, and that sound, while technically neat I guess, just isn’t as moving to me.
metal isn't dead, but it's been on cliche life support for over 2 decades; and it smells bad too.
modern formula. quantize, quantize, quantize then just tune down to subsonic levels, overload with gain, lose any note separation and clarity, add cookie monster vocals.
metal jumped the shark in the '00s

But this looks like what he’d be into now lol
It was worth the energy !If he is, I sure couldn't find any pictures of him golfing. I was hoping to save myself some trouble and use an existing pic, but had to make my own fake one.
I don’t really care about innovating so much, that’s not something that can be controlled and no one can make it happen just because they want it to. I also fully believe it often comes as a result of musicians being so fucking sick of everything around them they have to push out something entirely different……for it to eventually be homogenized and copied.
Most of the stuff I’ve been listening to when I’m looking for new stuff is incorporating other genres than metal, the newest Better Lovers album is fucking great. Not many standard song structures and Greg Pucciato pretty much takes off where King For A Day Mike Patton left off.
And then a song like this exists on the same album that shows they know how to write an ear worm and a half. Fucking love this song and it’s got a really fucking cool solo that I’m not even sure how they got the sound for.
