That's the problem with some metal fans. Yes I agree we need to be critical of our favorites....but at the same time we're nitpicky to the point of driving people away from good stuff and we end up with shit. If this had come out after black album instead of Load we would have been cheering loud back in the day! If only they would have done that things might have been different.

Best Metallica tune in a very long time.
Yep. It has a strong Master of Puppets album feel to it.

Lars has at least figured out how to record his drums so they don't sound like crap. I would have liked to hear the guitars a bit higher in the mix, but that's a small point.

Kirk's lead was all over the place.

I guess my overall point is, if Metallica MUST put out new music, this is better than anything since Load, imo, so I have to give it a tentative thumbs up.

"It has a strong Master of Puppets album feel to it" Please mail me some of the stuff you've been smokin :D

But that's why music and tone are so very subjective; everyone's got there own perspective. Be pretty boring if we all heard things the same way I guess.

Garage Days Inc. all over again.

I like that it's fresher than their "take this melancholy drudging heaviness as a testament to our metalness!!" style of music.

Something bugs me about the sound of the drums.

But otherwise - it's not dad-metal, it's pretty decent, it's fresher than the last couple throwdowns, and I'm hoping that in this release there's some serious headbanging goodness. I prefer Hets voice to many of the cookie monster metal bands out there today. Sooooooooo much good music, but as soon as the vocalist opens his yap it sounds like shit to me - can't stand cookie monster lyrics.

Well, guess we'll soon see. Let's see if there's anything comparable to RTL on here :D

I didn't realize until just now that Foreign Policy is a cover song from Fear, a hardcore punk band from the late 70s. lol No wonder it sounds more genuine punk...
