Not you, Brother Mark, Brother Zach, Brother Curt or even Brother Steve came close IMHO.

Well.... I'll give you your opinion, but I think my "No Good" clip is pretty close to the VHII sound. Certainly there have been people closer, but it ain't that far away...

Steve

i will say that if the peacemaker did not exist, these metro clips would have probably blown me away a million times over and i'd have one of his premade jobs.

and you definitely cannot argue with the price factor of the metro!

wouldn't it be killer if bruce egnater did his amp building class using this kit and targeting ralle/rockstah tones?

fwiw, vic has talked to me recently about shooting some new video clips of his amp line, to revamp his website

Good luck with the shoot bro!!

now if Vic offered a Guitar and amp for 3g's that will nail the tone, sign me up, but until then paint me a skeptic!!

And for the record, I know how great your ears are and how much of a stand up guy you are, so Im 100% sure what you saw is legit but I'm just not getting it lol!!

YOU ROCK my brother!!

Ralph

listen my dear tone brother, i admit it is just nuts how mesmerizing great tone can be and how elusive it really is, but when i heard "that" sound for myself, i went into a daze.

for me, after i hear a tone that great, it burns into my mind and until something else knocks it off the throne, it remains the champ. all these other brown sound clips and amps are like different colors in a great rainbow.

i'm gonna bet the farm ralle and rockstah didn't just plug into their amp one day and nail that sound. it's a time consuming and skillful game of experimentation and chasing and refinement.

now if someone could just reproduce the whole rainbow cheaply, we'd all win!! :D

you own gainy!

I must insist it is you who owns!!

We are on the same page brother!!

I know that Ralle and rockstah have been putting in some crazy time doing the groundwork.
Im just seeing more results comming from the metro side.
That said, Vic definitely etched an amazing tone in my head for sure! I still get chills when I watch the video

I'm sure it took them a ton of time too. But that's why many of us opted to buy the production model amp from a guy who had already spent crazy amounts of time finding and building THAT tone for us. You will get no argument from me on Vic's tone. On that video his PM tone is about the sickest thing I've ever heard. It's just ridiculously good. So good, I want to buy that amp and set it next to the one I already own.

I'm not insinuating he played any games or dirty tricks with the clips. But, we're not talking about trying to emulate a guy like Lynch's really slick feel and incredibly unique sounding style and tone. We're talking about slamming out a couple of Am - G chord changes in Ain't Talkin' Bout Love. Simple rhythm riffs any decent rock player can play. How could that be all in the fingers? How could that all be in one magic guitar, a guitar sah5150 has compared his best sounding guitar to and said there's no magic in Vics guitar?

I've stuck with my PM almost 4 years. Some days I think it is the greatest amp ever made. Other days it's only very good. There have been no days where while playing it I broke into a cold sweat and expected the police to come and break down my door because I had stolen Eddie's magic Marshall. I can get some really cool Chubtone tones out of the PM and what more could anybody really want out of an amp. It's just sometimes I hear some EVH or some Vic or some Metro clips and think I want THAT tone too. Really, shouldn't I be able to get that tone out of THIS amp?

closest VH tones to date?

rockstah certainly sounds like he has found the sound!

i'd take 3 channels:

first one is ej's clean tone

2 is vic's peacemaker clip 3

3 is rockstah lead tone

I am not the gate keeper of the brown sound like some of you but holy crap this is the best I have heard Aint talking about Love, imo it nails it.

That tone is not loose nor fuzzy enough.

[rant]
It amazes me that people think there is some secret to great Marshall tone. Like you have to mod your amp for it to sound good, or that only clones of Marshalls bring the rock. Someone posted a Metroamp vid the other day and it sounded like a stock JMP.

Also, when are people going to admit that EVH's tone kind of sucks? Its loose, flubby, and extremely fuzzy on top. I still like it, but its criminally overrated. And here is the best part: When people post clips of them "nailing the brown sound," most of the time their clips SOUND BETTER THAN THE ACTUAL BROWN SOUND.

Get your own tone. Write some songs. Tour the world. Then smoke crack and die in a structure fire. That is rock 'n roll.

Agreed, plus it's the driver and not the car. Which is why I think Vic sounds the way he does through his amps.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan....not helping my plexi gas :( I really wanna get one, either a metro or ceriatone.

I agree. Obviously, I was being a bit over the top in that last post, and I love Vh's tone, but lets be realistic here. :D

I dunno man - what is he playing in those clips? Just simple rhythm patterns that any number of guys on here can play much closer in feel to the actual EVH versions. I agree to an extent with what you are saying in some cases, but Vic is not really copping EVHs feel real well IMO...

But I'm not talking abot him copping EVHs feel. My entire point is that if Vic sounds the same through any PM but no one else does...well, then by ways of m god like deduction ability I'm guessing the missing ingredient with any one else's clips would be Vic.

So how do you explain VHoholic and his 5150 combo with a blanket over it?

Pick attack and the right verb imo :)

Thinking out loud, I already know your stance about tone and fingers.

myself I have no reason to chase EVH's tone, not my style. What my style is I do not know yet but brown it is not.

I don't agree that Vic sounds the same through any PM and no one else does, so we are working from fundamentally different postulations.

I'm not saying he does. I'm referring to the earlier statements of others...and then posing my question.

I believe I used the word correctly. We are working from two different assumed realities... def 2...
